Backstage @ Micha Designs: The Show Must Go On!

Tonight, I worked for jewelry designer Micha. She wanted her pieces showcased against a ‘neo tribal’ background, with white body paint/tattoos.

So (with the designer’s blessing) I came up with a makeup sketch that looked a little something like this:

Basically, it’s a reverse smoky eye (MAC Eye Pencil in White, Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream/SugarPill pressed shadow in Toki/SugarPill loose shadow in Lumi) … a flesh toned blush (MAC Personal Style)… and an ‘erasing’ lipstick. For this, we used Viva Glam Gaga II, Siss Lipstick (MAC) and a concealer pencil (Make Up For Ever) as a Lip Liner.

The body painting got a little messy, so we took it outside:

The girls were TROOPERS! It was not warm outside… but they stuck it out! Anything to get it right… we were pulling double and triple duty (the lady painting the girls is the DESIGNER), but at the end of the night, it was SO worth it. The girls all looked amazing, and they really showcased the jewelry. It was awesome.

I got home a little earlier tonight… but I’m still pretty tired. Good Night Everyone!

FOTD: Giveaway Face

I wanted to use the shadows that I’m gifting in the latest giveaway (no, not THE SAME shadows… I have my own. lol):

Guerlain Parure Extreme (Dore 24)
YSL Concealer (#4)
MAC Blush in Personal Style
MAC Eyeshadow in Brule (lashline to brow)
MAC Eyeshadow in Texture (lid)
MAC Eyeshadow in Handwritten (crease/brows)
MAC Eyeshadow in Soft Brown (blended above crease)
MAC Eyeliner in Smolder (waterline)
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
MAC Lipliner in Hodgepodge
MAC Lipsstick in Viva Glam Gaga II

Giveaway: Viva Glam Gaga II (CLOSED)

You guys knew this one was coming… but I’ve done a little bit more:
MAC False Lashes in #40
MAC Nude Palette (done by me):
MAC Eyeshadow in Brule
MAC Eyeshadow in Soft Brown
MAC Eyeshadow in Texture
MAC Eyeshadow in Handwritten
MAC Viva Glam Gaga II Lipstick
MAC Viva Glam Gaga II Lip Glass

I wanted to do a totally nude FACE giveaway, kind of like the FOTD I posted today. So I added a few things. In addition to the Viva Glam Gaga II Lipstick and Lip Glass… I also put together a palette of nude shadows (yes, I put the palette together myself) that I thought would look nice together. And you MUST have false lashes! So I included a pack of MAC falsies in #40.

You guys know the drill: You have to be a public subscriber to qualify. I have to see you… in order to enter you. You can amp your chances by following me on twitter @shahadakarim (and retweeting the giveaway), liking Adventures in Makeup on Facebook, linking my blog to yours, linking the giveaway to your blog, and actually blogging about the giveaway.

This contest will run longer than usual… five weeks.

Good luck everyone!

FOTD: Totally Nude

I broke out my Viva Glam Gaga 2… to go totally nude. Here’s what I ended up with:

Chanel Bronze Universelle (as foundation)
By Terry Touche Veloutee
MAC Blush in Prism
MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork
MAC Eyeshadow in Studied Brown (brows)
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
MAC Lip Pencil in Hodgepodge
MAC Lip Glass in Viva Glam Gaga 2
**See how opaque that lipglass is? It’s definitely better than the lipstick, in my opinion. And I’m LOVING the Lancome Mascara! Right now, I just have a sample. I’m sure this is worth the purchase price of a full size. Yep… I’m getting one.**

Viva Glam Gaga II: Swatches!

As promised, here are the swatches of the Viva Glam Gaga II Lipstick and Lipglass:

With Flash:
Lipstick is on the left, Lipglass is on the right
Without flash.
Practical Application:
I absolutely prefer the lipglass to the lipstick in this one. I feel like the lipstick is going to be a bit of ‘work’ to wear. Contrary to popular belief, this lipstick is NOT the perfect nude for medium to darker skin tones. It is VERY opaque and not very moisturizing… and is in danger of going ashy. The lipglass is a bit darker and easier to blend down and wear. To make this wearable, I used MAC Hodgepodge Lip Liner.
Get it if you want an opaque nude and you don’t mind working with the color and the formula. Or, get it to support a good cause. 100% of donated proceeds is nothing to sneeze at. But please be aware that this is not the most wearable formula or color, despite the advertisements to the contrary.
I will be paying forward a brand new set of the lipstick and lipgloss in an upcoming giveaway. I’m not doing it for the color… I’m doing it for the cause.

MAC Viva Glam: Gone Gaga… again

The makeup universe is buzzing over the release of the latest addition to MAC’s Viva Glam series: Gaga II

LOVE this promotional picture… just stunning! And the color is much more wearable this time. Folks were mixing the first Viva Glam Gaga with all manner of browns and nudes… trying to bring that ashy pink down to help it translate in real life application.

100% of the proceeds for Viva Glam go to AIDS Research. I have every Viva Glam prior to this one… so it was a no brainer for me to get this set. I ordered it online… because I’m not interested in braving the frenzy to get it at a local store.

Swatches and a review pending….

Stay tuned!
