One of my new favorite Summer lipsticks comes from the new MAC Tropical Taboo Collection. Midnight Mambo is like the young ‘pinker’ version of Violetta. It’s still blue based… but not as purple. And it’s much more moisturizing, as the mineralize version tends to be.
This is one those rare instances where the real life photos look better than the stock photo. This lipstick looks like a jewel. It is absolutely gorgeous.
I swatched it next to Violetta, and sure enough Violetta (Amplified) is more purple:
Violetta is on the right. Midnight Mambo is definitely more fuchsia. You can find out more about the entire Tropical Taboo Collection HERE.
I’ve decided to keep the new YSL eyeshadow palette. It’s really beautiful, and I was further impressed after actually using it in practical application:
Hourglass Veil Foundation (6.0)
YSL Radiance Blush in #3
MAC Lipstick in Violetta
YSL Midnight Garden Palette:
Darkest Purple on lids and under waterline
Darkest Green in corners
Lavender through the crease
Estee Lauder DoubleWear Pencil in Forest on waterline
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
MAC’s Violetta lipstick is always worth a second pass, and a third, and a fourth! While it’s a Pro permanent, many people were only able to get their hands on the lipstick during promotions. It’s now being repromoted in the the Disney ‘Venomous Villans’ collection. The collection debuts September 30th.
The shade is a pigmented violet, with fuschia undertones. It’s just stunning on about every skin shade, but it really pops on brown skin. Observe:
On the rest of the face:
Chanel Mat Lumiere Foundation
MAC Sculpting Powder
Rock & Republic Blush in Kinky
MAC Pigment in Lithe
Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner
Shu Uemura Eyebrow Pencil in Seal Brown
YSL Faux Cils Mascara in #1
Nars Lip Pencil in Rosebud
ETA: Random addition… MAC nail polish in So Rich…So Pretty.
It was part of the Alice & Olivia Collection. I broke it out because of the lipstick. Violet rules!
