I had to venture out into the sun for a few press events, and I didn’t want to look ‘done’ (it’s really too hot for all of that), but I also didn’t want to go bare faced. So I opted for a sheer smoky eye:
I took the Urban Decay Naked Foundation out for a test drive… it performed very well. My only concern is about skin type; this foundation literally glued itself to my oily skin and set immediately. I can’t see this being so hot for drier skin types. I blotted once throughout a 10 hour day. I think the foundation also absorbs oil as it wears. I’d be really interested in seeing how it wears on a dry skin, because it seems to have all the answers for oily girls like me.
I finally gave up trying to resist the amazing orange lipstick that is MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Natural in N43. It’s a creamy opaque color, that looks amazing on my warm skintone:
I used it for an FOTD, and fell in love. The color is REALLY intense, but it works well as long as it’s the focal point of the face.
This might steal me away from my other Urban Decay favorite in ‘Zero.’ Touted as the ‘matte’ version of the ‘blackest black’ — Urban Decay’s new 24/7 Pencil in ‘Perversion’ definitely makes its mark:
It sets in about 15 seconds, and DOES.NOT.MOVE. I’m really impressed with this new pencil. I may end up keeping this in even higher rotation than Zero. You can find out more about Urban Decay’s new pencil HERE.
I used my new Inglot pigment (#84) for this look:
Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturizer (Desert)
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
IMAN Blush in Allure
Inglot Pigment in #84 (lids)
Louise Young Eyeshadow in Pom Pom (crease)
Louise Young Eyeshadow in Ting (browbone)
YSL Shocking Pen Liner (lashline)
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero (waterline)
Armani Eyes to Kill Stretch Mascara
Inglot Lip Gloss in 545
You guys remember the NARS Hanamichi Palette…
I used some of the goodies from Rouge Bunny Rouge for this FOTD:
I used some more stuff from the MAC for Daphne Guiness Collection. I’m learning that you have to use a light hand with pretty much all of the pieces… they are all highly pigmented. A little goes a long way.
Here are my favorite Eye products for 2011:
As much as I initially whined about the price of this palette, I get a LOT of use out of the middle color. Pom Pom is a cool enough brown that it works on brunettes, and doesn’t go ‘red’ like a lot of brown colors do. I use that color (along with Black Bear) more than any other in this palette. I still think it’s too expensive. I wish the shadows were sold as singles…
Eye Liner: Urban Decay, Chanel, Guerlain
I listed more than one brand because I use each pencil for different things. But these are my go to pencils for any given look, with out failure.
These CONSISTENTLY blow the competition out of the water! The formula goes on ‘dry’ (with fingers or a brush) – blends out like a cream – and holds all day without help until you take it off. I love these shadows. A little goes a long way… they are totally worth it. Totally.
Mascara: Armani Eyes to Kill Stretch
It began with the Beaute Liqui-Gel Stain in Neon (it was literally the first thing I put on), and I kind of built the face from there:
