Blushed: Sisley Highlighter Blush with White Lily

This item is proof that I am attracted to all things pretty, regardless of their practicality. The new Sisley Highlighter Blush (limited edition Spring 2012) is GORGEOUS, although it swatches a pedestrian peachy pink with a subtle shimmer. I found out as much while swatching it in the store. I walked away from it (when I found out how much it cost), and came back a week later to find it sold out. Then the final shipment came in… and I was unable to resist leaving it in the store a second time.

From the Bloomingdales website:
“Sisley Paris L’Orchidee Highlighting Blush colors and lifts the complexion with an easy-to-apply luminous veil that can be endlessly adjusted. With just one sweep of the brush, the complexion is illuminated and evened out with a light, healthy glow.

The ultra-light and ultra-fine texture melts away into a soft and silky powder, offering light to medium coverage.

Anyway, the stock photo does it NO justice at ALL. It’s much darker in person, and would do well on fair to medium skintones.

So yeah… this is the most gorgeous blush I’ve EVER seen. With the exception of the purple touches in the middle (which is overspray), the rest of the design is baked into the pan. So you keep the shape of the orchid, and the colors in the orchid, pretty much all the way through.

Now, because of the overspray dealie, I have REFUSED to touch it. Refused. Can’t bring myself to swatch it just yet. I’ve actually considered going into the store, swatching it, and taking a picture. Seriously. Yes, I realize this is ridiculous. But I’d like to marvel at the blush just a bit longer before I destroy the pattern.

This blush is also expensive. Not as much as that By Terry $200 blush… but still up there. It retails for $108.

It’s a blush.

C’mon Sisley… it’s a BLUSH. The skin care, I can get behind. But a blush? I need some perspective here…

But wait, who am I kidding? Is the blush  not currently in my possession?

A mess and a shame.

YSL Spring 2012

Very soft and pretty promo picture. Love that.
‘Candy’ Eyeshadow Palette
Gel Blush
Nail Polish
Rouge Volupte Perle
Golden Gloss
5-Color Palette
I love the ‘Candy’ Palette and the 5-Color Palette. I’d have to see everything in person first though. That 5-Color Palette just nude… like I need any more nude shadows. LOL But I’m still going to check out the collection and see what’s what.
You can learn more about the collection directly from YSL.

NARS Spring 2012: Gaiety & Valparaiso

So… my NARS stuff finally came. I just ended up with the blush in Gaiety, and the Pure Matte Lipstick in Valparaiso:

Now the blush had me a bit stressed because it’s BRIGHT. I thought it might look like Desire, but it doesn’t. It’s matte and a bright candy pink that looks surprisingly flattering on my warm skin tone. I rolled the dice with this blush, and I’m happy to report that I came out a winner.

I like it. I like it a lot.
My favorite piece of this collection has to be the Pure Matte Lipstick in Valparaiso. It’s rich, and bright and saturated… much like the Chanel Eclosion Palette. You might remember that I was cool toward the lip selection for Chanel’s Spring 2012 offering… but a lipstick like this would have totally changed my mind. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

I am head over heels in love with this lipstick! It’s not a warm burgundy color,  like some pictures of the tube suggests. It’s actually a saturated berry, with hints of plum and red. Just absolutely stunning.

I’m happy with my NARS Spring 2012 picks… really happy.

FOTD: Burgundy Smoke

I went back to the Chanel Spring 2012 Ecolosion Quad for this. These shadows are so amazing… just gorgeous.

Chantecaille Future Skin (Banana)
Chantecaille Loose Powder (Shadow)
Chantecaille Aqua Blush in Charming
Chantecaille Aqua Blush in Brilliance (highlight)
Chanel Eclosion Quad:
Burgundy on lids and under waterline
Taupe blended through the crease
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero on lashline and waterline
Armani Eyes to Kill Stretch Mascara
Chantecaille Hydra Chic Lipstick in Willow

NARS: Spring 2012

Another great promotional picture…

NARS decided to be ‘all about color’ for Spring 2012. And I can’t say I’m too upset about that. I love the idea of saturated color, especially for this season.

Douce France Trio
Paramaribo Duo
Lhasa Single
Dark Rite Eyeshadow Pencil
Gaiety Blush
Mexican Rose Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil
Bilbao Shimmering Lipstick
Valparaiso Matte Lipstick
Diamond Life Nail Polish
Not much really caught my eye with this colletion. I REALLY like the the Matte Lipstick… and I like the idea of the single shadow and (of course) the blush. With the exception of the lipstick, none of the other colors or formulas are really that unique.
I’m going to spring for the three most interesting items and see what happens.

FOTD: Printemps

I used the rest of my favorite from the Chanel Spring 2012 Collection for this FOTD:

Dolce & Gabbana The Foundation (Soft Tan)
Koh Gen Do Translucent Powder
Chanel Horizon Blush
Chanel Highlighter in Jasmine
Chanel Single Eyeshadow in Tigerlily (lids)
Chanel Eclosion Quad:
Burgundy in outer crease
Gold in Inner Crease
Grenat Eye Pencil on lashline and waterline
Guerlain Retractable Eye Pencil in waterline (#1)
Chanel Sublime Mascara

Chanel Glossimer in Bagatelle

Chanel Spring 2012: Blush, Highlighter, Gloss & Single Shadow

My other pieces from the Chanel 2012 Collection are here!

Blush Horizon, Single Eyeshadow in Tigerlily, Highlighter in Jasmine, Glossimer in Bagatelle
Now, all I managed to swatch was the lipgloss. The eyeshadow was like a ghost on me… the camera could not seem to find the difference between the swatch and my actual arm skin. Boo! And the highlighter (which is a peach-gold) really brightened my skin tone, but you couldn’t see that in the picture. Swatches of the blush are coming.
I’ll wear the ‘unswatchable’ stuff in an upcoming FOTD.
Ciao for now!

FOTD: Spring Fling

I dove right in and started using the Chanel Eclosion Quad. It is AWESOME. I love how pigmented the colors are. For my first attempt, I decided to focus on the darkest color…

Chanel Perfection Lumiere (Beige Ambre 64)
Chanel Loose Powder (Dore)
Illamasqua Blush in Nymph
Chanel Eyeshadow Quad in Eclosion:
Burgundy (lids)
Gold (inner lid)
Peach (blended above crease)
Beige (browbone)
Chanel Eye Pencil in Grenat (outer waterline)
Guerlain Retractable Pencil in #1 (inner waterline)
Chanel Sublime Mascara
By Terry Lipstick Terrybly in Kiss Me Quick

Chanel Spring 2012: Rouge Coco Shine (Flirt)

Another piece of the collection arrived: The Rouge Coco Shine in Flirt. It’s a warm coral-pink, that is surprisingly flattering on my warm skin tone. I had my reservations, but it turns out I was worried about nothing.

As you can see, it’s more pink than Misia, despite their similarities in the tube. I really like it. It’s perfect for Spring.

Chanel Spring 2012 (Shadow Palette & Eye Pencil)

I got to take a look at the Chanel Spring 2012 collection and OMG… love much of it. There are some major passes for me… the lipstick is a no, as well as the nail polishes. I just don’t care for them. The Lip Pencils are a pass, same for the rose eyeshadow single, and two of the glosses. But the rest? FABULOUS!

So, for starters… I brought home what I feel are the two absolute must haves of the collection:

The Eclosion Eyeshadow Palette and the Grenat eye pencil are unexpectedly wonderful. The palette colors are all extremely silky, richly saturated, and really pigmented. They blend together effortlessly. Chanel does Spring probably better than just about any other time of year. They really capture the richness of fresh color, without going overboard. I was really impressed with the quad.

The sleeper hit of this collection for me is the Grenat Eye Pencil. At first, I turned my nose up at the idea of a ‘burgundy’ eye pencil… especially for Spring. But it is just beautiful on. It’ll work much better with olive based or brown skin tones. I can see this color looking too ‘pronounced’ on fair skinned beauties… without some major blending.

I’m still waiting for my other favorite pieces from this collection to arrive by mail. When they get here, I will swatch them all to be damned… and share my thoughts.
Ciao for now!
