Lip Service: Spring Red (Shiseido Dragon)

I blame Dick Page for this.

During the Nordstrom Trend Event, Dick Page came on the screen talking about wearing red for Spring. In particular, he was hocking the Shiseido Perfect Rouge … I imagine in the color Dragon. I got caught up for a minute, came to my senses, and ended up getting caught up again within the next few days. I had to have it. So I got it.

I’m a big fan of Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipsticks anyway (Day Lily is my favorite of them all). They are highly moisturizing and wear just beautifully. Did I need this lipstick? Absolutely not. Did I want it? Yep.

It’s a nice warm red… perfect for my warm skintone. Let this be a lesson… marketing is a mofo.

Flawless Finish: Shiseido BB Cream

Every time I visit Shiseido, I discover something wonderful that makes me wonder what kept me away for so long. This time, I came across their take on the BB Cream.
This BB cream had me at hello. The reason is in the shimmer. It has a ‘luminosity’ to it that I haven’t seen with any of the other standard versions. It gives the skin a glow without looking greasy, and claims to do all of the same things as other BB creams, including high SPF and color correction and what not.
My color is Dark (naturally). I found that even though the color appears lighter in the tube, it self adjusts. Observe…
I really like it. I found that although it’s light on coverage, it’s luminous enough to distract the eye from any imperfections. I’ve worn it a few times with light blotting, and it held up well. So far, so good.

FOTD: Glasses!

Hey Guys,

It’s been forever and a day since I did an FOTD (seems like). I’ve been wearing my glasses a lot lately (yes, I wear glasses on occasion) so I’ve adjusted my makeup accordingly. I tend to focus more on lips when I’m wearing my glasses and just keep the makeup around my eyes very simple. I do one thing differently in the base department: I put on a lot of very light concealer. It helps to open up that part of my face. I use double the amount that I normally would without glasses.

Eye Adore: Winter Brights by Shiseido

Typically the Winter season brings muted colors and dramatically dark makeup. But a makeup artist showed me how to make winter brights work… despite the gloomy weather.

The Shiseido Luminous Eyeshadow Trio in Tropicalia is the perfect set of colors to prove that point. The bright ‘summer’ colors actually work beautifully in wintertime, for more dark dramatic looks. Pairing the fuchsia with browns and burgundies… the yellow with black/gold/brown… and the green with black or bronze makes all the difference. And what’s amazing about this trio is that the colors are so pigmented… that they work well no matter the season.

I admit that I was a bit skeptical when I first tried this trio. I really didn’t think that the colors would work. But then I swatched them, and was convinced.

I swatched these with my fingers. One swipe. I feel like, if I can pick up that much pigment with my fingers, then I’m golden.

The current condition of my skin is keeping me away from FOTD’s for a while. But I promise to dig into this trio soon, and show you how amazing it can be in any combination, for every season.
