Eye Adore: Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadows (Autumn 2013)

I’ve been trying to wait for the entire collection to review these, but the last two are taking their sweet time getting to me, so I’ll show you what I have so far. The Kaledescope Collection looks a lot more like Spring to me… but it seems the way of things of late (I recall a Chanel Spring Collection that looked better suited to Autumn, so there ya go).

I have four of the six (?) Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadows. They remain my favorite ‘cream’ formulation, far surpassing formulas from Chanel, Lancome, and the like. Even Shiseido can’t hold a candle to these formulas. I also got the new Rouge d’ Armani lipstick in 300 (which remains my ever favorite shade from Armani). I have the sheer version in 300. But the Rouge d’ Armani formula (with a proven 9 hours of wear on these lips of mine) makes it so much better.

Rose Popilla
June Beetle
#300 (lipstick)
Scarab Violetta
Silver Chaffer
I’ll start with the lipstick:
Same fantastic formula as all of the other Rouge d’ Armani lipsticks. It really grabs the lips and holds on beautifully.

I’m missing Gold Hercule (which is coming in the post), and some mystery gold color that someone sent a picture of… I’m not sure what it is. Like all Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadows, these best respond to application with fingers. I love to use my fingers to apply, and a soft brush to blend them out as needed. I swatched one layer with my fingers. You can layer these colors for a deeper result… and layer them over or under powder shadows for all manner of variations.

I love them… I do wish the colors had been a little deeper for Autumn, but overall they are completely gorgeous.

FOTD: Golden Brown

This is what I looked like BEFORE I headed over to NARS. I wanted to show up with some small representation of the brand, so I used a few NARS products to get the job done:

FACE
Chanel Perfection Lumiere (Beige Ambre 64)
Kevyn Aucoin Radiant Diaphonous Powder
CARGO Laguna Blush
Chantecaille Whale Compact (highlighter)
EYES
Louise Young Eyeshadow in Pom Pom and BlackBear (brows)
NARS Cream Shadow in Ponderosa (lids)
NARS Eyeshadow in Galapagos (lids)
NARS Eyeshadow in Mekong (lashline/outer crease, under waterline)
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero
Armani Eyes To Kill StretchMascara
LIPS
Rouge d’ Armani in Brown 203

Lip Service: Armani Pink 514

Little Sister Amanda used this color on me during my makeover, and it was simply too awesome to leave at the store. I tend to wear the ‘plum’ series in the Rouge d’Armani line, but to date… I really only have one pink color (520). This is a really good pink… strong but not too bright.

Like all Rouge d’ Armani lipsticks, the color grabs the lips and doesn’t let go. This lipstick features that same long lasting formula… 8 hours. Love!

FOTD: Silver & Red

I wanted to dig into my new Armani Eyes to Kill Silk Eyeshadows. For this look, I used the shadow in #17…

FACE
Tom Ford Traceless Stick Foundation (Caramel)
Koh Gen Do Translucent Powder
Chanel Blush in Rose Ecrin
EYES
Suqqu Eyebrown Pen in Moss Green
Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadow in #17 (lids & blended through crease)
YSL Shocking Gel Liner in Deep Black (lashline)
Guerlain Automatic Eye Pencil in #1 (waterline)
Armani Eyes To Kill Stretch Mascara
LIPS

*A full review on the Tom Ford Foundations is coming.*

Lip Service: Armani Rouge 400

Oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I LOVE this lipstick! It’s not just that Armani’s Rouge d’Armani series wears for 8 hours (no joke), the formula is so CREAMY and lush… this lipstick is perfect for the Holiday Season.

Armani Rouge d’Armani Lipsticks retail for $30 each, and you can get them from the Giorgio Armani Website:

FOTD: Pink Pop (II)

It’s been a while since I rocked the traffic-stopping pink that is Armani’s Pink 520. So I dragged myself upright and did an FOTD:

FACE
Hourglass Veil Foundation (6.0)
 NARS Orgasm Blush
LIPS
Chanel Lip Pencil in Framboise
Rouge d’ Armani in Pink 520
EYES
MAC Paint Pot in Painterly (lids)
MAC Pigment in Lithe (lids)
Clinique Gel Liner (lashline)
Armani Waterproof Pencil in #2 (waterline)
Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara
Ardell Half Lashes

** You see how annoyed my skin looks. It’s gotten so sensitive this summer, that’s why I had to simplify things. Time to get back to basics: clean/exfoliate/moisturize. **

Summer Essentials: My Favorite Things (Makeup)

The following are my ‘go to’ products for this summer. FOTD’s aside (I don’t wear full makeup everyday), these are the items that I reach for time and again, as I brave the Summer heat while trying my best to look polished about the face:

FOUNDATION (sheer)…

This bronzer remains my favorite ‘foundation’ for Summer months. It’s sheer, but has just enough color to even out my skin tone. It also has a bit of a shimmer that is only detectable when you’re in direct sunlight. Love that! If that’s not enough, it’s packed with botanicals and yummy goodness to take care of your skin while you wear it. I started using this product more than a year ago, and it remains a staple in my summer makeup arsenal.

You can get By Terry Bronze Opulent from Space NK at http://www.spacenk.com/

FOUNDATION (medium)…

I recently discovered the Hourglass Veil Foundation. The best part about this stuff is that it’s oil free. My oily skin loves that! The ingredients are a mixed bag: some good, some… interesting (Glass Beads! Yes, you read that right). It gives me a solid medium coverage with no issues. I love the way it feels, and it lasts on me all day.

You can get Hourglass Veil foundation at Sephora … http://sephora.com/

BLOT…

I RARELY use powder during the summer. My skin does not like any ‘additions’ beyond foundation when it’s hot outside. Because I get so oily, I do have to keep the shine low by blotting. These ‘blemish control’ blotting papers from Mai Couture do the trick for me. I like the addition of salicylic acid (I’m acne-prone) to help keep my skin from acting out.

You can get a stack of 100 papers for about 20 bucks, from http://www.maicouture.com/

EYES (liner)…

These are tried and true. There’s simply nothing like them. I’ve used everyone from YSL to Make Up For Ever… and I keep going back to the Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencils. You get a lot of pencil for your $$ ($17), and the performance is unmatched. I’ve gone through countless pencils in Zero (black). I buy them two and three at a time. This is just good stuff.

You can get Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencils at Sephora. http://sephora.com/

EYES (mascara)…

Now, for the record, I am not a fan of waterproof mascara. I find it heavy, and nearly impossible to get off of my lashes without serious help. Some are worse than others. But if I have to wear a waterproof mascara, this is the one I reach for time and again. I’m not a fan of the ‘feeling’ of many waterproof mascaras (heavy), but this one is the lightest of the bunch. I still need a heavy dose of makeup remover to get it off, but I feel like my natural lashes are intact after doing so. Because my lids and eye area get so oily, I use a waterproof mascara to keep my eyes looking their best, without worrying about smudging or running.

You can get this mascara from the Giorgio Armani website at http://www.giorgioarmanibeauty-usa.
I’m not sure about international shipping, but I know that there is a UK website as well.

LIPS (Lipstick)…

There is nothing like Rouge d’Armani lipstick in terms of color saturation and longevity. It claims to be an 8 hour lipstick. I’ve never actually road-tested it for that long. But I will tell you that I put this on, and it stays put. And when it fades, it does so ‘evenly’ so that you don’t end up with a gross ring on the inside of your lips. I love this stuff. I just found out that my favorite color (Beige 106) is being discontinued… so I’ve stocked up. The color range is massive, so there’s something for everyone. Love this stuff!

You can find Rouge d’Armani lipsticks on their website as well at http://www.giorgioarmanibeauty-usa.com

LIPS (Gloss)…

This lipgloss goes down as one of my BEST discoveries for 2011! This is the best lipgloss I’ve used in a really long time. There’s no way to truly describe the weightless feel of these glosses. They glide on with no oily or sticky feeling. The colors are smooth and complementary… there is truly a shade for every skin tone. Add to that the company’s fantastic practice of donating HALF of all sale proceeds to domestic violence charities, and you have a real winner in this product. I highly recommend it.

You can get Haughty Cosmetics Lip Gloss on their website: http://www.haughtycosmetics.com

Those are my makeup favorites for Summer 2011!
