Lip Service: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine (Suspense)

The Chanel Avante Premiere collection is divine. I got a chance to look at, swatch, and try on all of the lipsticks (both the Rouge Coco Shine and the Rouge Coco), and I have to say they are wonderful. The colors are very vibrant… some even a little dark for the summer season (but will translate beautifully for Autumn). I finally settled on the Rouge Coco Shine in Suspense… and received it as a gift from a lovely friend who insisted on buying me something pretty.

The formula is highly pigmented and highly moisturizing. I feel like these keep getting better as Chanel releases new colors. Suspense has a subtle blue shimmer to it, but it only enhances the overall effect. The color also stains a bit, so you can layer it for more intensity.

I am over the moon with this color. It’s so juicy and summery! You can find out more about Chanel Avante Premiere Collection HERE.

FOTD: Bright Grey

It’s a gloomy day in Southern California today. But I still dug into the new summer colors from Chanel. For today’s face, I used two colors from the Lilium Quad:

Lord help the shiny children! Whyyyyyyyy did all that shine show up? My goodness, the flash is my enemy, I swear. The actual (real life) finish was soft, not shiny. Anyway, here’s what I used:

Guerlain Parure Extreme (Dore 24)
Guerlain Terracotta (Clair 01)
Chanel Blush in Rose Temptation
Chanel Lilium Quad:
Shimmer Pink from lashline to browbone
Shimmer Lavender/Grey on lids
Chanel Eye Pencil in Rose Platine (waterline/underwaterline)
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Deauville

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine: Antigone

This is the other exclusive… this time for Saks Fifth Avenue. Antigone is like the grown up,  more sophisticated sister of Monte Carlo. If Monte Carlo is strawberry pink, then Antigone is Strawberry Rose.

It’s decidedly more pigmented than some of the others. I found that it went on strong… with no liner needed for a boost:

I really love this one. Glad I trusted Saks enough to splurge on it sight unseen. I was worried that it would look too much like Monte Carlo. But as you can see, they are completely different colors.

FOTD: Monte Carlo

I’m making my way through these Rouge Coco Shines one at a time. Today I tackled Monte Carlo. Here’s what I found… with the Framboise liner it’s a BRIGHT strawberry pink. Without, it’s a sheer warm-toned strawberry. I photographed both looks:

That’s with the Framboise liner. BRIGHT, right? But still really pretty. Then I took it off and just used Monte Carlo by itself, with no liner:

Without the liner it’s a much more sheer color… easily wearable on a bare face, or a face full of makeup. It’s a very versatile color. Love it!

Guerlain Parure Gold (Beige 06)
Chantecaille Loose Powder (Shadow)
Chanel Blush (In Love)
Chantecaille Sea Turtles Palette (Beige Shimmer on browbone)

Armani Waterproof Eye Pencil in #2 (waterline)
Besame 1930’s Mascara

There’s a whole bunch of stuff going on today with this look. I couldn’t decide what to use, so I just used everything:

By Terry Rose de Rose (Amber Rose)
Make Up For Ever Uplight in #31 (as a base)

Dior Lash Maximixer
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine: Rebelle, Canotier, Monte Carlo, Bonheur

Here are a few more swatches:

Rebelle looks like it’s very pigmented in the tube… but goes on a sheer reddish/pinkish/orange. Hard to describe the color. It’s bold, but sheer. Nice for when you just want a pop of color. Not as nice as Sari d’Eau in my opinion.

Canotier is a PERFECT, IDIOT-PROOF NUDE! I can put this on in the car, in the dark… wherever. It’s pretty hard to get wrong. I love it. So sheer, but with a hint of shimmer. Just enough to give your lips a pop. I am getting a backup. I’m not kidding.

Monte Carlo is an unexpected strawbery pink. Really lovely. Perfect alone or with the Chanel Framboise lip liner. I didn’t think I would like this… but I really do. Keeper.

Bonheur is just so pretty! Its a bright, sheer pink. Reminds me a lot of the Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick in Fuchsia… with a better smell. The rose smell is just divine, and really fitting for this color in particular. Love it!

Whew… that’s eight colors so far. I would love to try and swatch (on lips) all 20 (that I can count, including the Neimans and Saks exclusives). We’ll see.

Ciao for now!
