More Chanel: Holiday 2012

So I went back for a few more pieces of the Holiday 2012 collection…

Aqua Lip Crayon in Rosewood
Rouge Allure Velvet in L’Impatiente
Aqua Lip Crayon in Brown Copper

Rouge Allure Velvet in L’Impatiente
Aqua Lip Crayon in Brown Copper
I’m pretty sure I’m finished with this collection. LOL I really love these colors and textures though. And the Malice Polish… still the Crown Jewel of this collection in my opinion. The collection is now online at

Lip Service: Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet (La Distinguee)

I was pretty skeptical about this color out the gate. La Distinguee is the latest Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick to become available in the United States (it was previously released in Asia, I believe). It’s hailed as a nude-peach (which can translate in to ashy pink) color. But I ordered it from Chanel anyway… and hoped for the best. I was happy to find out that it was a little darker in person, actually complimented my warm skin tone.

Like the other Rouge Allure Velvet lipsicks, this one goes on silky and sets to a beautiful semi-matte finish.

Now, it does pull pink on me (it’s not nude or peach on me by any stretch of the imagination), but it still wears soft and flattering. I like it. You can find out more about Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Distinguee HERE.

FOTD: Bronze & Plum

I blended cool bronze with warm plum for today’s FOTD:

Tom Ford Traceless Stick Foundation (Praline)
Chanel Loose Powder (Dore)
Givenchy Blush in It Girl Purple
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Eyeshadow in Bronze (lids)
Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in #116 (lashline/under waterline)
Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in #92 (outer corner)
Urban Decay Eye Pencil in Zero (waterline)
Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Rafinnee

FOTD: Metallic Smoke

I wanted to smoke out my eyes with metallic colors… but I didn’t want them to get lost (sometimes when you blend too many shimmers the colors lose their identity), so I mixed two distinctly different shimmers/textures.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation (Beige Ambre 64)
Chanel Loose Powder (Dore)
MAC in Lilyland Pearlmatte Powder (blush)
Louise Young Eyeshadow in Pom Pom & Black Bear (brows)
Bobbi Brown Light Peach Color Corrector (browbone)
NARS Cream Shadow in Ponderosa (lids)
Chanel Illusion d’ Ombre Eyeshadow in Illusoire (lids)
NARS Eyeshadow in Mekong (blended through crease)
YSL Shocking Eyeliner in Black (lashline)
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero (waterline)
By Terry Mascara Terrybly in Purple Success
Chanel Lip Pencil in Nude
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Raffinee

Chanel Loose Powder (Dore)
MAC In Lilyland Pearlmatte Powder (Blush)

Lip Service; Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet (Pink and Reds)

My top picks from the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet line arrived at my doorstep… and every single one is absolutely fabulous!

From the left: La Raffinee, La Fascinate, La Somptueuse and La Sensuelle
La Raffinee
La Fascinate
La Somptueuse
La Sensuelle

These lipsticks are divine. They are silky, and the color really grabs the lips. But they can be drying if you’re not careful, because they are mattes. So a healthy dose of lipbalm beforehand is recommended. You can easily blot these and layer the color. Chanel really did a good job with Rouge Allure Velvet. The formula is truly divine.

Lip Service: Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet

Chanel has released it’s newest line of lip luxury: Rouge Allure Velvet. There are eight shades, from light nude pink to dark plum brown. The colors are not universally flattering, but there’s some color in the selection that flatters some shade… there’s something for everybody.

I found that all of the red shades (pink/red, plum/red, brown/red) worked best for me, as well as a Rosewood color called La Raffine. Those are coming directly from Chanel. So when they get here, I’ll swatch them. But I did manage to get the fuchsia color from my local Chanel counter, called L’Exuberante:

The colors swatch strong. The formula really grabs the lips. Despite the silken feel of these lipsticks, I do not recommend putting them on completely dry lips. I found that my lipstick skipped a bit when I did that. So I took it off, moisturized my lips, and reapplied:
I was worried that this color would look too much like NARS Carthage. But it turns out, this shade is much deeper and more of a distinct fuchsia. So far, I really like it. I’m (im)patiently waiting for the others to arrive. When they do, I’ll put them to the test. Ciao for now!
