Glow On: By Terry Or De Rose Blush Prestige

When this lovely little item first came out, I totally passed. At $80… I needed another highlighter like I need a hole in the head. And really, in comparison to By Terry’s Rose Amber, it’s not as spectacular…
But on a really deep discount (I’m talking like… $60 less), I can be convinced to give it a whirl.

Blush Prestige is more golden than rose, and on my warm skin tone… it’s definitely a highlight. The formula, as usual, is amazing. It works well on bare skin and even over foundation (a few light strokes blends it in beautifully).

Good stuff. $80 good? Dunno… at least not for me. To each his/her own though. We pay for what’s important to us. I do believe that Blush Prestige has now gone the way of the dinosaur. But By Terry Or de Rose is permanent, and comes in three gorgeous colors (Amber, Fuchsia, and Coral). By Terry Or de Rose is sold at Space NK.

February Favorites (2013)

I’m going to continue with the monthly ‘favorites’ list. I think it forces me to really sort through my makeup and skin care and gauge performance (and $$ worth) in a practical way. So here are my favorites for the month of February:

Sunday Riley JUNO:

I know, I know! I initially hated this oil (I’m still not a fan of the smell), but it has gone so far to heal my broken skin, that I can’t rave about it enough. I’ve used my original bottle up, gone through a couple of samples, and am now due to purchase a fresh bottle. I mix it with my regular skin moisturizer for daytime, and wear it alone at night. It’s been wonderful for this skin. I am in love with it now.

Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation:

This has become such a staple. What I love most about this foundation is that it imitates ‘skin’ so it looks incredibly natural. I apply it with my fingers, set it with a light dusting of Secret Brightening Powder and I’m good to go. Easy Peasy.

MAC Lovecloud Blush:

I’ve been using this blush every day for nearly a month. It’s incredibly flattering, and brightens my complexion without making me look too ‘done.’ It’s a perfect pinky coral on my skin, and it lasts all day, until I take it off.

Chanel Or Rose Eye Pencil (top):

This is another staple. Like Lovecloud, it brightens my entire eye, and opens it up. Unless you look closely, it doesn’t even look like I’m wearing it on my waterline. Now that I’ve been wearing my glasses more often than not, this is the perfect eye opener for me. I use it just about every day, no matter what kind of makeup I’m doing for the day.

By Terry Or de Rose Lip Baume

I keep one of these in my purse, and one in my kit. The wand applicator is the best thing By Terry did for this shimmering balm. I can put it on without looking, and it just kind of lights my lip area. The rose gold flecks add just enough color to give my lips some definition, and it feels absolutely wonderful on. Love it.

Those are my top picks for February 2013! Ciao for Now!

By Terry Holiday Goodness!

I got a close look at the new By Terry Holiday 2012 Collection…

I would say that the must haves of this collection are the oil and the lip gloss. The Blush Prestige is an expensive blend of the Rose Amber and Coral colors (which are permanent). I much prefer the Rose Amber to the Blush Prestige.

This oil ROCKS. The good news is, all that gold (yes, that’s 24 karat Rose Gold) doesn’t translate into glitter on the skin. It melts right in. And oily girls, this absorbs so quickly… no oil slick! You can use it alone as a moisturizer, or blend it into your regular moisturizer or foundation. And it smells like HEAVEN.

I had this version in the pot some moons ago. This is the same formula, but in a convenient wand. And it’s a little cheaper… not much… but a little. Every time I’ve worn this gloss I’ve gotten compliments. It flatters just about every skin tone.

The whole collection is available at Space NK and Barneys.

By Terry: Holiday 2012

The  By Terry Holiday 2012 Collection celebrates all things  ‘rose gold’ — with a small but exquisite lineup of luxury items.

The Or de Rose Blush Prestige is a universal shimmering elixir, infused with rose gold to highlight or enhance just about every skin tone.

By Terry Crayon Kohl Terrybly in Opaline. I can’t wait to take a look at this one up close and personal. It’s a light shimmering pink… that promises to add ‘light’ where every you apply it.

By Terry Or de Rose Lip Balm. I have this fantastic stuff in the original pot. Now By Terry is releasing the formula in a tube with a wand (MUCH more sanitary). This stuff is gold (no really… there are actual gold flecks in it). I’ve used it for everything from ‘brightening’ up a lipstick color, to using it alone. I always get compliments when I wear it. You can toss this balm on with some mascara and a little tinted moisturizer, and be done.

And this might be the crown jewel of the collection. The Or de Rose Huille Absolute is a combination of rose extracts, designed to be ‘pressed’ directly into the skin. This is a shimmering version of the original elixir (which is clear). This version is meant to be used more like makeup, although it doubles as skin care.

I’m currently waiting (with bated breath) to get an up close and personal look at these new items. When that happens, I’ll run them through the paces for performance and practical application!

More to come… Ciao for now!

Photoshoot: Express Yourself!

Got up this morning bright and early for a photoshoot. I had only couple of minutes to do my makeup and decided to use the Mineralize Shadow from MAC’s Venomous Villans…

Omg, this is not a thing to be rushed. But I did it anyway. Ugh. Result:

No it’s not perfect. And yes, that’s a pimple (her name is Helga). But heck… that is not an easy formula to manipulate in 15 minutes. I had to get on the road! But here it is… and I promised to be honest.
On the rest of the face:

Rock & Republic Blush in Call Me

It was a rush job, but I made it to the gig on time! I was set up by the time my two models walked in.
Meet Francesca:

…And Holly:

Both women were delightful … and complete color opposites in more ways than one. Francesca was warm toned… holly was so cool that I swear blue toned ANYTHING looked good on her.
I’ll do the Beauty Breakdowns when I get the professional results. I took these with my bootleg camera.
Thus ends my exhausting, but fulfilling day. Now, I read somewhere that there was a contest and a giveaway on this blog…
