Lip Service: Hourglass ICON

This Holiday Season, pucker up with the ultimate collection of red lippies!

It’s no mystery why Hourglass appropriately named its blue-red shades of Lipstick, gloss, matte lacquer, and lip pencil ICON. The weight and feel of the lipstick packaging alone makes it… well… iconic. It feels like Old Hollywood. It’s luxurious without being obnoxious. It’s definitely something you want to pull out of your purse in public for a quick touch up.

Each one of these products is amazing in its own right. Each is high in pigmentation and feel amazing on the lips.

All of these lippies exceed expectations in terms of wear and comfort. The gloss is non-sticky, the opaque rouge wears like a moisturizing stain, and the lipstick wears like a comfortable lip balm. I applied all with no additional moisturizing or exfoliating.
I am over the moon at this collection of reds. They are a luxurious way to to truly make you feel like an ICON.

Lip Service: Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick

Hourglass is getting into the ‘liquid lipstick’ business in a major way. Most formulas offer a gloss like texture with a shiny finish… but the Hourglass version is distinctly matte, and can take some getting used to.

I’ll be doing a series of reviews on this formula and colors (which I’m still working through) likely in the form of FOTD (instead of a separate review for each shade). But I have to dedicate a complete post to my favorite shade… a bright orange called Riviera:

The containers for these are small. About the length of the fat little lipglosses, and the width of the tall lip glosses. Not to worry. A little bit of this product goes a very long way.

As you can see, this color is NOT for the timid.
I was worried about trying this formula on a dry lip (since it sets matte), so I heavily moisturized my lips and scrubbed them a bit before applying the liquid lipstick. The more smooth the lip surface, the better this formula will perform.

I’m still testing road-worthiness and longevity on this opaque orange goodness. I’ll be sure to report back as I gather more intel. In the meantime, you can check out Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick HERE.
