FOTD: Khaki Brown

I was feeling a little ‘seasonal’ (the mornings have been very overcast) and decided to play with ‘muted’ colors for the day…

Professional Grade: Twice as Nice

You guys remember the twins…

I did their makeup last Halloween…
Well, another year has gone by for them, and they wanted me to do their makeup for their birthday. So they popped over the house and told me what they wanted for the big night. Because of our scheduling conflicts, their makeup had to last for 16+ hours. So I used products that I knew would last on them.
Nina wanted bronzed skin, an extreme smokey eye and nude lips.
Guerlain Parure Extreme Foundation (Dore 23)
Jemma Kidd Showstopper Water Resistant Bronzer (contour)
Armani Sheer Bronzer in #5 (blush)
Jemma Kidd Dewy Finish in Rose Gold (highlight)
MUFE Mist + Fix
Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadow in #13 (black)
Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadow in #11 (highlight)
Ardell Half Lashes
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero (waterline)
Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara
Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil in Heavy
Rouge d’ Armani in Beige #106
Shalya wanted a soft smoky eye (it was my idea to incorporate navy blue), and a statement pink lip.
Guerlain Parure Extreme Foundation (Dore 23)
Koh Gen Do Translucent Powder
MAC Blush in Pink Cult
MUFE Mist + Fix
MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadow in Blast Of Blue
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero
Naimies False Lashes
MAC Lip Pencil in Boldly Bare
Armani Lip Gloss in Pink 505
I was on standby in case the girls needed touchups. By 9pm they’d had the makeup on about 8 hours, and they said it was still holding with no problem. I sent them with the lip products to make sure they stayed looking fresh.

FOTD: Alakazia Show Prep

I wanted to do something a little dramatic for the Alazakia Hat Installation (which I worked) for LA Fashion week. When I’m working, my makeup is typically minimal and functional. But this time, I decided to go all out, lashes and all:

Guerlain Parure Extreme
Chantecaille Loose Powder (Shadow)
MAC Blush in Sur
MAC Eyeshadow in Brule (browbone)
MAC Eyeshadow in Girlie (crease)
Louise Young Eyeshadow in Black Bear (lid/underwaterline)
Stila Smudgestick in Onyx (waterline)
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
Naimies False Lashes
Chanel Lip Liner in Nude
Chantecaille Lipstick in Amande

FOTD: Birds of a Feather…

I decided to keep a pair of the feathered lashes that I hauled during my last beauty supply run. They’re store brand lashes… and only about 2 dollars a pair. So I really wanted to know if they performed as well as their higher end (Make Up For Ever) counterpart:

They are VERY light. I love that, because there’s nothing more uncomfortable than heavy lashes. Sometimes, companies get so caught up in making the lashes fabulous, that they don’t account for the fact that people have to actually WEAR them (I’m looking at you Illamasqua). But these wear with only slight discomfort, which I’m sure will be a consolation for the model who eventually has to wear a  pair for me.

My right eye and left eye photograph differently. I have no idea why. They appear to be symmetrical… but hey, I might be wrong. The left lashes flipped ‘up’ a bit more in the photo for me, which I liked. On the entire face, both lashes looked about the same:

I kept on the Maybelline Fit Me foundation, and just added MAC Smolder Eyeliner, NARS Blush in Luster, and Make Up For Ever’s lip pencil in 4C (lined and filled on the lips)

I love these lashes. I’m sure that I’ll go back for more. They’re inexpensive, they wear well, and look adorable to boot.
