Light Reading: Beauty Books

As requested, I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite beauty books. They’re not particularly new, but remain inspiring to me as I find my way through the world of makeup. Here they are:

I AM IMAN
(inspirational pictures and transformation ideas)

A BEAUTIFUL LIFE
(because I wish to remember one of most amazing Makeup Artists of my time)

That’s it! These are my favorites of all time. I have other books from other makeup artists, but I find myself constantly coming back to these books. The pictures are timeless, and the application techniques and tricks are still practical (with need of the occasional upgrade). In case you hadn’t noticed, I have a major place in my makeup heart for Kevyn Aucoin. I was first inspired to do makeup while collecting Vogue Magazine (since 1988) and I remember his first Allure cover (1991). That’s the picture of Linda Evangelista (which is shown in this blog). Makeup Artists will come and go, but there will never be another like Kevyn.
