Hmmm… I’m not sure what Make Up For Ever was going for when they released the new Extravagant Mascara.
This mascara promises a whole host of things, like precision, lengthening, and volume… and well… 1 out of 3 ain’t bad.
Actually, it kind of is (bad).
The folks at Make Up For Ever must have figured that adding a cool new shape to the container and a very interesting looking wand would make us forget that this mascara is anything BUT extravagant. It’s actually kind of a pain in the butt to use.
I’ve found that this mascara works best when you take as much product off the wand as possible. If you leave that product on… your lashes come out heavy and gross and stuck together. I don’t know WHAT they were thinking. Really.
When you take nearly all of the product off of the wand, you end up with a good lengthening mascara (much like Volume de Chanel). But it’s such a hassle to do all of that, that you’re really just better off getting the Chanel mascara and leaving this one at the store. It’s $6 extra, with none of the labor. Sounds like a fair trade to me.
Sorry Make Up For Ever. You should have stuck with Smoky Lash.
Summer makeup means lots of bright, bold colors… and the folks at Make Up For Ever are going all out with a new waterproof makeup collection.
I instantly fell for the Aqua Rouge lip color in #17. The bright orange looks fantastic on my warm skin tone… and the formula is perfect for summer (or any time of year, really) because once you put these babies on they do NOT move.
You guys know I’m a sucker for a fabulous orange lippie! I love this stuff. You have to use it so sparingly… a little goes a very long way.

Okay, so I could have hit the middle of my lip a little better, and smoothed out those outer lines. SMH. I’ll do better in an FOTD. You guys get the gist…

This thing is genius.
Make Up For Ever released this domed version of the Kabuki Brush to best suit the new Wet/Dry Foundation. I found it by chance while browsing Nigel’s Beauty Supply (I was on my way out and passed the display), and immediately fell in love.
This brush is so dense… and so soft… it’s perfect for foundation application. It picks up a ton of product (so use a light touch) and blends it out to a traceless finish.
This stunning little beauty retails for $48. You can find it exclusively (in terms of chain stores) at Sephora.
I got up bright and early for The Makeup Show this morning… and wanted to put my best face forward. I wanted to go for an orange ‘glow’ (you know orange is my color) without the shine. I blended a highlighter in my foundation, which caused a bit of flashback in the camera, but it looked natural outside in the sun, and under artificial lights in the show.

I came across some of the coolest formulas and little ‘additions’ for making your lashes utterly fabulous this year.
Here’s what topped my list:
Mascara: Chanel Le Volume de Chanel
Did Chanel REALLY surpass Armani in terms of a quality mascara? My answer is yes. The Volume de Chanel Mascara is, in my opinion, the best mascara Chanel has ever dreamed up. It not only lengthens and builds volume, it also ‘curls’ your lashes! Seriously, I can put this mascara on without curling first, and still end up with long, lush curly lashes.
Individual Lashes: MAKE UP FOR EVER Individual Lashes
These Make Up For Ever Individual Lashes have been a life saver! It takes a little practice, but adding individual lashes can become about the simplest thing in any given beauty routine. I’ve used a ton of these to open up clients eyes without the drama of a strip lash. They work beautifully and look totally natural. You can use them alone or with a little mascara. I highly recommend these babies.
Strip Lashes: VELOUR Mink False Lashes
This is a lovely way to add a little luxury without breaking the bank. What I love about Velour Lashes is that they’re so light and comfortable! And, they don’t cost an arm an a leg. Most mink lashes can run you in the hundreds of dollars (no, seriously). Plus, you can use these up to 25 times with proper care. And for those of you worried about the lovely little minks that these lashes came from… worry not; The hairs for these lashes come from the what the animals naturally shed when they are brushed.
That’s it! Those are my top ‘lash’ picks for 2012. Ciao for now!
Congratulations! You won the Make Up For Ever Flash Palette.
Orchidi, I’ve already sent you an email. Please respond within 48 hours with your mailing address, and I’ll get your prize right out to you! Congratulations again!
I have finally gotten the MUFE Aqua Cream in Matte Black (#27). It’s been consistently sold out in my area. But by some stroke of dumb luck, there was one more left at Naimies. I didn’t even hesitate.
It is as awesome as I thought it would be. This formula is sooooooooooooo good. I’m in love! You can find out more about MUFE Aqua Creams HERE.
