Chanel released a tiny new collection (as they are apt to do, in an attempt to separate you from every single penny) in anticipation of the big Holiday Collection. The little bundle consists primarily of lip colors, with a nail color thrown in for good measure.
I saw the collection recently, and decided that the only real standout was the Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Controversy.
The strong berry-purple color is part chic, part goth. I think it’s perfect for the Autumn/Winter season, and I love that you can manipulate the color with liners to bring out either a cool or warm result.
I feel like there’s just enough brown in there to keep it from going totally goth on me. This color translates well on my warm skin, and wears more like a deep rusted berry.

I can’t seem to get enough of this formula. The Lip Fusion Gloss in Goddess was not my first choice, because honestly I thought it would go ashy on me. But when I put it on… it became part of my face… like, it nearly disappeared (but in a good way). Observe…
The color is opaque enough to even out my pigmented lips… but the color is like my lips on their very best day on Earth. I wore it with just mascara and a little tinted moisturizer and the result was polished and effortless. I love it.

Okay, this is my last peach lippie post for a while… I think. Lip Fusion’s Gloss in ‘Fresh’ is such a perfect complementary peach on such a wide range of skin tones, I think it’s worth shouting about.
Even on my pigmented lips, it evens everything out and give my mouth a warm peach flush…
Fabulous. You can find out more about Lip Fusion Glosses HERE.
I recently scored several Lip Fusion glosses. I’ve never used their products before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I already have full lips… so ‘plumping’ (their specialty) is not something that I’m really interested in. But it turned out to be okay.
From the left: Boca Babe (shimmer orange), Crave (Golden Pink), and Bloom (Creamy Rose)
For this FOTD: I used the gloss called Boca Babe:
YSL Teint Eclat (B070)
NARS Radiant Concealer in Ginger
Ben Nye Banana Powder
Chanel Blush in Frivole
Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad in Cognac Sable:
Gold on inner lid
Copper on outer lid
Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow Pencil on lashline and waterline
Guerlain Maxi Lash Mascara
Lip Fusion lipgloss in Boca Babe
*Okay, my brows are officially out of control. I’ve already made an appointment to get them shaped up.*
This is likely the most effective set up for portable makeup that I’ve seen… likely ever. Street Saint Makeup combined a palette of essentials with a basic brush set… and put it in the slimmest packaging I’ve ever seen. It is truly something to behold.
What’s really special about this set is that it’s actually effective. The formulas are pigmented and blend beautifully, and the brushes are great quality. Both come in a wallet sized case that will fit in just about any purse, clutch or side pocket of a suitcase.
This lovely case is 7 inches across and 5 inches high. It’s only about an inch thick… really. It opens to reveal the palette and brush set…
The mirrored palette contains 5 eyeshadows, a blush, and a semi-opaque lip gloss.
I was blown away by the quality of these shadows and blush… and even the lip gloss. So I did a little research. Turns out these shadows and blush are chock full of goodies!
From the website:
- Vitamins A, C, and E – Providing excellent anti-oxidant and anti-aging factors
- Gulf Stream Sea Waters ® – Revitalizing and soothing effect on skin. Beneficial for hyper-sensitive skin as it acts as an immunomodulator.
- Kalparaiane ® -Anti Aging, firming, re-plumping, and nutrition
I swatched the shadows and blush using the fluffy shadow brush from the kit:
The shadows are on the bottom… and the blush is at the top.
The lip gloss is a universal shade of warm rose. I think it will work on a wide range of skin tones. The formula is non-sticky, and lasted through dinner with no problem.
I am really impressed by this set. It’s perfect for travel… sleepovers… and pulling double duty on a particulary grueling day. It’s slim enough to tuck in the corner of your purse, and has just about everything (just toss a travel mascara in there… there’s room) you need to put on a fresh face.

This Holiday Season, pucker up with the ultimate collection of red lippies!
It’s no mystery why Hourglass appropriately named its blue-red shades of Lipstick, gloss, matte lacquer, and lip pencil ICON. The weight and feel of the lipstick packaging alone makes it… well… iconic. It feels like Old Hollywood. It’s luxurious without being obnoxious. It’s definitely something you want to pull out of your purse in public for a quick touch up.
Each one of these products is amazing in its own right. Each is high in pigmentation and feel amazing on the lips.

All of these lippies exceed expectations in terms of wear and comfort. The gloss is non-sticky, the opaque rouge wears like a moisturizing stain, and the lipstick wears like a comfortable lip balm. I applied all with no additional moisturizing or exfoliating.
I am over the moon at this collection of reds. They are a luxurious way to to truly make you feel like an ICON.

A lovely brand called Mia Mariu made its way to the Adventures In Makeup offices…
The company offers a selection of lip colors and formulas that are rather impressive. They’re both hydrating and highly saturated with color, and I found them very comfortable and easy to wear.
Top: Hydrating Stick Glosses in Tango, Encanto, Granada, and Seduccion
Bottom: Lip Liners in Merlot and Marron, and Lip Gloss in Tentacion
Encanto (my favorite)
Merlot & Marron
Color me impressed with this lip selection. I can’t believe how flattering the colors are… I’m particularly blown away by Encanto (which I thought might look garish on my warm skin tone). The price point for these lippies is attractive as well…they range from $11 to $15. You can find out more about Mia Mariu products HERE.
