EOTN: Practice (eventually) Makes Perfect

I should be asleep. Really. I have to get up early tomorrow and face the world all bright eyed and bushy tailed…
Instead, I’m up… practicing my eyeliner application:

I just set the canvas with the Sleek Contour Kit in Light. I ran highlight color all over the lid and then put the matte contour color through the crease. I darkened by brows with Rock & Republic eyeshadow in Fatalistic. The liner is a Clinique Gel Liner in True Black. Mascara is Buxom.

I can always use more practice in the eyeliner department. I tend to miss more often than hit… so I’ll keep at it until I change those odds.

Covet-Worthy Contour by Sleek

The Sleek Contour Kit in ‘Light’ finally came back in stock, and I snapped it up as quickly as I could point and click ‘buy’. It arrived yesterday:

Now my collection is complete… lol. Funny thing about this contour is… even with my skintone — IT STILL WORKS! It’s a very light contour, but just effective enough to not look like I’m actually wearing any.
Love that. The highlight is champagne colored, and reminds me of the Jemma Kidd Dual Illuminator Powder.
This contour kit also (and this is my justification for purchasing it) will fit nicely into my kits for use on fair skinned clients and models. Once again, Sleek impresses with quality and pricing.
If you’re in need of a good contour kit and don’t want to pay MAC or Make Up For Ever prices… take a look at Sleek. Your wallet (and your face) will thank you.

Open up and say FAAS

Look what fell out of the sky from across the pond!

Tonight, I learned a little something about Ellis Faas:

This little bullet shaped beauty contains the most amazing product…
Ellis Faas features a complete line of makeup, all contained in these bullet like objects and dispensed by twisting the cap a the bottom to fill a sponge or brush at the tip:
This particular bullet pen contains a waterproof cream from the ‘light’ collection, in the color E301….
It’s like RMK’s Metallic Gold Eyeshadow and a Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream got together and had a baby. OMG. It’s a stunning true gold (not yellow or green) and once it sets (30 seconds), it doesn’t budge! It can be blended down to a liquid shimmer on all skin tones. I love this stuff. I may have to get a backup. Seriously. Since MUFE doesn’t make an Aqua Cream in this color, I’d be totally justified.
Now, the lip color:
That’s a GLOSS people, from the Milky Lips collection in L204. Stunning. It’s opaque, but completely weightless. It almost reminds me of a stain… except it doesn’t. It’s not sticky or worrisome in any way. I may need a backup of this too… hmph.
There is SO much to choose from with this line, and I’m just getting started. The price is middle of the road (more expensive than MAC, much cheaper than By Terry) and there is truly something for everybody in this makeup line. From wild to demure, Ellis Faas is ambitiously aiming to be all things to all people. From where I sit, it looks like they’re off to a fabulous start.

Pat McGrath’s Nine Points Of Light

The latest issue of Allure Magazine featured Makeup Queen Pat McGrath’s look for the Louis Vuitton show for Spring 2011. The look was flawless skin, with nine points of light:
Most of us know about the basic five points of light: Inner corners of the eyes, cheekbones, and cupids bow. But McGrath also added light under the brows, down the center of the nose and on the chin.
To imitate the look, I picked up the much sought after ‘dual illuminator’ from Jemma Kidd Makeup School:

It comes in two colors. This is the Champagne color. The other is called Burnished, and is more of a bronze. It features an iridescent cream on the top portion of the container…

…and an iridescent powder at the bottom. It even comes with a little puff, although I think it works best with your fingers.
Following McGrath’s rules of illlumination, here’s my finished look:
Of course, the key to this look is a flawless base. That means no spots, blemishes or other distractions anywhere else on the face. For that I used:
Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation in Golden
Bobbi Brown Cream Concealer in Honey
MUFE HD Powder
Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara
Guerlain Eye Pencil in Beige
Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil in Heavy
By Terry Or De Rose Lip Balm
