FOTD: Headshot

I had to get a headshot over the weekend, to match my new position and whatnot. I did my own makeup, and it’s hilarious the difference between my shot and the photographer’s shot. I specifically did the makeup for shooting in natural light (we were shooting outdoors).

FACE
Illamasqua Skin Base (#14 & #15 blended)
Guerlain Meteorites (Dore)
Chanel Blush in In Love
Jemma Kidd Highlighter in Rose Gold
LIPS
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Bel Ami
EYES
Tarte Eyeshadow in Werewolf (brows)
Chanel Kaska Beige Quad:
Beige from lashline to brow
Matte purple in crease
Napoleon Perdis Gel Liner (lashline)
Stila Smudge Stick in Stone (waterline)
Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara
Naimies Half Lashes
So after all of that, I drove about half an hour to the shoot location, and sat still long enough for Bryan Frank to take a picture. He decided that my right side (the side you normally see) is NOT my good side. So he had me turn the other way, and this is what happened:

For those of you who wanted to see  me smile… there ya go! 🙂 And that’s as good as it’s going to get. I rarely smile in pictures because my whole face disappears. That’s a little ‘half’ smile. But he was not a fan of my serious facial expressions.

THANK YOU Bryan for putting up with me and letting me fuss and twist and turn and make all kinds of silly demands. You are the consummate professional, and I appreciate you helping me give it my best ‘shot.’

Beauty Breakdown: Headshot

Sometimes I feel like in principle, headshot makeup is like wedding day makeup: It should be you, on your best day. The makeup should not overwhelm your entire look (head to toe); instead, it should complement it in an almost unnoticable way. Naturally, dramatic/unusual looks for brides and specialty headshots are the exception.
With that principle in mind, I set out to do makeup for a local television reporter, for her outdoor headshots. Here’s what I used:
She came with her own foundation already on, so I worked with what she had (MAC Studio Tech)
Face:
MUFE HD Powder
Illamasqua Blush in Expose
Eyes:
Dior Cream Eyeshadow in Beige
Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow in Tusk
Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow in Blush
MAC Eyeshadow in Sorcery (blended along the lashline)
Naimies False Lashes
MAC Studio Fix Mascara
Lips:
MAC Lip Pencil in Mouth Off
OCC Lip Tar in Melange
