FOTD: Pink n’ Blue

Quick, simple color: When I don’t have much time but want to wear something colorful, I cheat with colored liners and lipsticks. This FOTD took about 15 minutes…

Armani Face Fabric (5)
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (2)
Chanel Blush in Tumulte
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Rose Gold

Laura Mercier Cream Shadow in Rose Gold (lashline to brow)
MAC Pigment in Naked Dark (lids)
YSL Shocking Gel Liner in Sea Black (lashline)
Chanel Eye Pencil in Cassis (waterline)
Dolce & Gabanna Mascara

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in N28
(drawn with a brush as a liner, then filled in from the tube)

FOTD: Brown & Green

This is an odd combination, but I think it kind of worked. I layered Chanel’s Illusion d’ Ombre shadow in Epatant over dark brown matte shadow…

Armani Face Fabric (#5)
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (#2)
Sleek Contour Kit (Medium)
Chanel Blush in Imprevu
Louise Young Eyeshadow in Pom Pom (lashline to near browbone)
Chanel Illusion d Ombre in Epatant (lids)
Lancome Liquid Liner in Espresso (lashline)
Stila Smudgestick in Stone (waterline)
Guerlain Noir G Mascara
MAC Lip Pencil in Hodgepodge
Rock & Republic Lip Gloss in Train Wreck

FOTD: Thin Blue Line

My skin is getting better.. which means more attention to graphic makeup and sheerer bases. For this look I used Armani’s Face Fabric… which is so underrated in my opinion. YSL tried to do this formula (Mat Touch) and didn’t even come close. Face Fabric grabs the skin and smooths and brightens without making you look too ‘done.’

Armani Face Fabric (5)
Armani Blushing Fabric (1)
Chanel Single Eyeshadow in Beige Lame
YSL Shocking Gel Liner in Sea Black (lashline)
By Terry Crayon Kohl Terrybly in Blue Vision (waterline)
Guerlain Noir G Mascara
Haughty Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Inspire

Favorite Things 2011: Foundations & Powders

It has been quite the journey this year. Just when I thought I knew everything about foundations… several brands came out and totally surprised me. I’ll break my favorites down by formula…

STICK: Tom Ford Traceless Stick Foundation

This foundation has made me fall in love with stick formulas all over again. It’s full coverage, but perfectly weightless. And it really is TRACELESS. It blends through with the ease of a cream, and sets softly matte on my oily skin. It wears well all day, with minimal need for touch ups.

LIQUID: Guerlain Parure Gold

Every time I stray from this foundation, I go back and it impresses me all over again. Guerlain broke the mold with this liquid foundation. It blends out beautifully, sets soft, and really gives your skin an overall ‘glow’ from within. Just stunning. This is an amazing foundation. Everyone should try it at least once.

CREAM: Dolce & Gabbana The Foundation

This foundation is just STUNNING. The coverage (full) is ridiculous, and it wears beautifully. This is a recent discovery for me… and I’m so glad that I gave this foundation a chance. It’s really amazing, and worth every penny.

SILICONE: Armani Face Fabric

This foundation is completely weightless, and imitates the look and feel of perfectly smooth skin. It’s conveniently packed in an easy to use tube, and just a little bit goes a long way. Love this stuff.
POWDER (Loose): Kevyn Aucoin The Gossamer Loose Powder

I’ve been using this powder consistently since I bought it. My color is RADIANT DIAPHANOUS, which is how you’ll typically see it described in my FOTD’s. It’s lightweight and really works to ‘set’ the finish of the makeup, without giving you a powdery or cakey look. The amount of yellow in my particular color really makes my overall look ‘glow.’

POWDER (Pressed): Dolce & Gabbana The Foundation Powder

I am typically not a fan of pressed powders, but this one has blown me away. You can  use it wet (like a foundation) or dry (like a pressed powder). For me, it’s the perfect companion to the cream foundation. Used together, the effect is perfectly airbrushed, without looking overdone.

That’s it! Those are my favorite ‘bases’ for 2011. Ciao for now!

FOTD: Pink & White

Since I purchased Chanel’s Illusion d’Ombre shadow in Fantasme… I’ve never gotten to use it on myself! I’ve used it on clients and for shows… but never on me. So I decided today was the day to change that:

Armani Face Fabric (5)
Koh Gen Do Translucent Powder
Chanel Blush in Rose Ecrin
Louise Young Eyeshaodow in Pom Pom (brows)
Sugarpill Pressed Shadow in Toko (lashline to brow)
Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Shadow in Fantasme (lids)
Dior Eye Pencil in Gris (waterline)
YSL Shocking Gel Liner in Ashy Black (lashline)
Clinique High Impact Mascara
Chanel Lip Pencil in Nude
Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in Empire

FOTD: Dior Couture Golds

I wanted to see how the Dior 5 Couture Golds would perform in practical application, so they took center stage in this FOTD:

Armani Face Fabric (#5)
Kevyn Aucoin Radiant Diaphonous Powder
Armani Blush in #6
Suqqu Eyebrow Pen in Brown
Dior 5 Couture Golds:
Peach on the lids
Darkest Brown in the crease
Medium Brown under waterline
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero on lashline and waterline
Armani Eyes To Kill Stretch Mascara
Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Enviree

FOTD: Bronze & Red

I wanted to do something warm and wearable with bronze and red. So I pulled out some old favorites and matched them up with a couple of newcomers…

Tarte Eyeshadow in Werewolf and Immortal (brows)
