FOTD: Lemon Aid

After I crawled home from last night’s video shoot, I grabbed a couple hours of sleep and was up bright and early this morning for the next thing. Omg… it’s times like these when I realize that I am NOT 20 years old anymore and I can’t function (nor do I want to) properly on 2 minutes of sleep! LOL
So I reached for ‘lemon’ colored shadows and some gentle contouring to try and open my eyes up and make me appear like I got 8 hours of Beauty Sleep:

Product Review: Dolce & Gabanna (The Foundations)

I recently acquired three products in the Dolce & Gabbana Makeup Collection: The Foundation, The  Foundation Powder, and the new Fusion Lipstick.

The Foundation is good. My color is Soft Tan. It’s honestly the best cream foundation I’ve ever used. As I understand it, there are three different primers in this foundation, which adapt to your skin’s individual needs. For me, that means I need help with oil control. This foundation went on matte and set nearly instantly.. it’s WONDERFUL. And you use such a small amount to get a medium to full coverage…

I’ve used the foundation once, and only used a small amount that was trapped in the top to cover my entire face. This stuff is totally weightless and is REALLY good. I love it. And it’s about on par with my other foundations price wise.. $66.00. I used to use Shu Uemura Cream Foundation, but this one has seriously changed my mind.

The Foundation Powder is not really that. It’s a pressed powder (that goes on very light) when it’s dry, and a foundation powder (with medium coverage) when it’s wet. I was hesitant about it because I don’t like the idea of packing a foundation powder over a foundation… but the guy at Dolce & Gabbana explained that it behaves like a regular pressed powder when you dust it lightly over foundation. He’s right. I used a light touch to set my foundation and it performed beautifully.

The compact splits to reveal a sponge, that I will likely never use…
The lipstick is amazing. It’s a lipstick, with a lipgloss center in a contrasting color. I chose the color ‘Dazzle’ (gold) because, as the Dolce & Gabbana guy told me, the company is known for its Golds…

I’m really happy with all three items. Of them all, The Foundation is the biggest surprise. I really didn’t expect the density and performance of this foundation, especially on my oily skin. I highly recommend it, if you’re in the  market for a luxury cream foundation that actually performs.

My purchase came with the most awesome gift…

An eyelash curler, a Lipgloss Palette, a Lip Pencil (that is mysteriously missing its top… it came that way), and a full sized mascara. I have to say, this is one of the best GWP’s that I’ve ever gotten from a cosmetics company… EVER. You rarely get full sized products and you NEVER get tools! I think I love D&G even more now. They went out of their way to set themselves apart with this gift.

FOTN: 5 Minutes with Sheer Gold

I might have even done this face faster than 5 minutes… I was FRANTIC to get out the door and to an event on time, but I would have been totally wretched to show up without makeup. I used my new Dolce & Gabbana Foundation, and it performed extremely well under pressure. A full review is coming.

FOTD: Gold n’ Neutral

I broke out my Chanel Topkapi eyeshadow palette again… goodness I LOVE this thing. The pigmentation and the texture of these colors is simply amazing.

D&G Says: Shine On!

I have one wish for the Dolce & Gabanna makeup branch: that it expand distribution to other (read: more accessible) places for people to purchase it! I feel like, between the real lack of advertising (the occasional picture of Scarlett Johannsen doesn’t really count) and the lack of distribution… this branch of the D&G enterprise is being done a gross disservice.

Every now and then, I remember that I kind of like the line, and make a purchase.

One of my favorites among the lipsticks, is the Shine lippie:

I have no idea why they gave this lipstick a name like ‘Shine.’ You’d think that it would be sheer, right? NOT.

Look at the pigment in this freakin’ color! Sheesh. And that’s AFTER I blotted it down. Like most Dolce & Gabanna lippies, this one has fantastic coverage, is moisturizing, and wears all day.
I just wish they’d given this lipstick a more appropriate name, like “Traffic Stopping Orange”… I’m just saying.
