FOTD: Surf The Ocean

I haven’t really gotten a chance to play in my Surf The Ocean pigment stack before now. Can I just say that what has happened to the gold pigment is just BEYOND. I’ve smashed it out several times, and it continues to melt back together into a wet little ball. I feel like there’s less pigment in that pot than any of the others. It’s also become increasingly difficult to pick up with a brush. I worked with it today… but I think I’m just either going to mix it with the ‘dry’ MAC gold pigment from the regular lineup, or some Sugarpill Goldilux.

Anyway, here’s what I did today:

Estee Lauder DoubleWear Light (5.0)
Kevyn Aucoin Diaphonous Radiance Powder
By Terry Or De Rose in Coral Rose (blush)
Armani Sheer Bronzer in #5 (highlight)
MAC Surf The Ocean Pigment Stack:
Bronze on the lids
Graphite in the crease and under the waterline
Louise Young Eyeshadow in Ting (browbone)
Stila Smudge Stick in Onyx (waterline)
Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara
Haughty Lip Gloss in Polish It Off

FOTD: Twisted Neutral

I wanted to road test the Le Metier matte eyeshadows… boy did they perform! They remained matte all day on my oily lids (no primer. you guys know how I feel about primer), and never creased or faded…

Le Metier Eyeshadow in Peachy Keen (lid/browbone)
Le Metier Eyeshadow in Milan (crease)
Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in 12L (waterline)
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara

29 Hydrating Foundation in Dark
Kevyn Aucoin Diaphonous Radiance Powder
By Terry Blush in Beach Bomb
Cover Girl Nature Luxe Balm in Anemone

FOTD: Minor Shimmer / Major Orange

I was inspired by my little trip to see Amanda… so I decided to brighten up my face with a little shimmer and a lot of orange for this FOTD:

Giorgio Armani Mediterranean Palette:
Shimmer Bronze (lashline to brow)
Shimmer Brown (crease/under waterline)
Louise Young Eyeshadow in Pom Pom (brows)
Louise Young Eyeshadow in Black Bear (lashline)
Stila Smugestick in Onyx
Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara
Guerlain Parure Aqua (Dore 24)
Guerlain Meteorites (Dore)
By Terry Touche Veloutee (Cream)
YSL Cream Blush in Audacious Orange
Lipstick Queen Gloss Pencil in Genre

FOTD: Black Karat & Henna

I have to work today… ugh. And so I wouldn’t scare the rest of the world with my blotchy skin and puffy eyes (tears)… I used a little makeup to make me look presentable:

Armani Silk Eyeshadow in #13 (primer/lids)
Laura Mercier Black Karat Eyeshadow (lids/uner water line)
MAC Henna Eyeshadow (crease to brow)
Guerlain Kohl in Black Fakir (waterline)
Cover Girl LashBlast Mascara
Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (#173)
Guerlain Meteorites (Dore)
Sleek Pan Tao Blush
Nars Luster Blush (highlight)
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Canotier

What’s the Bzzz: Covergirl Nature Luxe

First, Full Disclosure:

Another fabulous blogger gave me the heads up about this company. Apparently, they recruit bloggers to help spread the news about products through word of mouth. So I signed up. What could it hurt, right?
My first assignment apparenlty concerns Cover Girl, and the Nature Luxe collection. Bzzagent sent me a little box with a foundation and sheer lip color in it, with the expectation that I give a comprehensive and honest review. So here goes:

Here’s what they sent me: One foundation in #350, and one sheer lip color in Anemone. First I’ll take a closer look at the foundation…

The packaging reminds me of Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Light, easy to handle and dispense. The formula is supposed to be light and airy, much like Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua. According to the provided material, the key ingredients to making this possible include cucumber water, natural jojoba, and rosehip extracts. Sounds wonderful, right? Well, I will tell you that those ingredients do not a ‘weightless’ foundation make.

This is the color that they sent me. As you can see, it’s much too light for me. But that didn’t stop me from putting it on my face… to test the ‘weightlessness’ of the foundation. It’s not. I can feel it… and no I am not going to show you guys the picture. I looked ghastly! lol

Now, I was worried that the foundation might dry to that same powdery finish as Revlon Photo Finish, but it didn’t do that either. It just sat there. My oily skin was not a fan.

Not that I should worry. This color is among the darker shades offered in the Nature Luxe line. The colors that run ‘darker’ than this tend to go ‘brownish/purple.’ Yeah, I don’t know anyone that color either. I was surprised, and disappointed at this discovery while recently stalking the line in a Target (store). On the flip side, there are a TON of color variations for fair skinned beauties. So if you are on the other side of the color spectrum, you might like this foundation because there are many more choices for you.

Next, I tried the sheer lipbalm:

This color is such a distinct orange red, that I was almost put off by it. Turns out, my fears were totally unfounded because this balm is GORGEOUS on:

Look at that! Kind of reminds me of Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine in Rebelle. Love this! Keeper. It also has a smell to it that reminds me of my childhood. Does anyone remember that gawd-awful lip gloss that used to come with a roller on top. it was from the 80’s and the name totally escapes me right now. It would dispense too much product and leave your lips looking horrid. But I LOVED it! I especially loved the smell. This reminds me of it in smell only. The Cover Girl lip balm is much better in terms of dispensing product, quality, and color.

So, thumbs up for the balm… thumbs down for the foundation. And here’s the thing: I have no actual use for this foundation. I don’t use anything that I don’t like, on my clients. SO…. I’m giving it away.

Here’s the deal: if you fit this color description (#350) then leave me your email addy in the comment box. I will randomly choose one of you guys and ship you this foundation. I also have four coupons for $2 off a purchase of the foundation. I’ll randomly choose four people for those to go to. We’ll let this run for about a week. How about we announce the winner next Tuesday (May 10th).

Good luck everyone!
