Chanel Rouge Coco Shine: Sari d’Eau, Boy, Bel-Ami

Okay, so ya’ll know your girl is hanging on by a financial thread after getting this Prius. So getting one of each of the new Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks (my original plan) is NOT in the cards right now. My Nordies Chanel rep is going to kill me (because I’d had her pull them a few days ago). Laura, if you’re reading this… I’M SORRY! I’ll make it up when my finances get flush again. Because right now, life is all about the penny pinching.

But just because I can’t buy, doesn’t mean I can’t play! I got a lovely card from Bloomingdales that entitled me to samples of three of the lippies, so I TOTALLY.TOOK.ADVANTAGE.

The fabulous Elizabeth at Chanel also had this handy color chart so that I could decide what would, and would not work for me:

The ones that I crossed out either looked a mess on me, or I have something comparable. No use in wasting money that I don’t even have to spend. Those with the check marks are fabulous. The three with double check marks are my top picks.

Here we go…

Sari d’Eau is FABULOUS! Not really an orange lippie… more like a golden coral. It’s just stunning on, and flattering to most warm skin tones. A keeper. I love it. Now, before one of ya’ll notice the crappy white stuff on my skin, that’s from a tissue that I’d used to blot before hand. Ugh. But I didn’t see it until I uploaded the pictures, and I’m not using any more of my precious little samples than I need to, so I’m not taking another picture. 🙂

Now I have to be honest, I didn’t think that Boy was going to be worth the hype. Turns out, it is. It’s NOT that cool of a pink in real life… it much more nude and shimmery. The flash made it that bright. It also seems a lot more sheer to me in natural light. Really nice rosy nude. Totally worth the purchase.

Bel-Ami is one of the loveliest rose colors I’ve come across in a very long time. It’s much darker in real life. Funny thing is, the way it photographed is a lot closer to what Boy looks like in real life. My flash eats all the color up and makes it brighter. You’ll just have to trust me on that. I picked Bel-Ami because it’s not like any rose I’ve ever seen from Chanel. I really love this one.

Now, when I actually get some money stacked up again, I’m going in for (most of) the rest! Monte Carlo is noteworthy, as is Deauville. They’re all really stunning… and there are colors that will fit every skin type and color.

It’s also worth it to note that these colors are not as sheer as I’ve seen a lot of people making them out to be. They’re very moisturizing, and they’re medium in color density. They’re not sheer, and they’re not opaque. I love this formula. I’m really happy to see Chanel stepping things up in the lipstick department.
