I’m always hesitant to try and do a ‘glowing’ makeup on my oily skin, because it always seems to come out more ‘greasy’ than ‘glowing.’ I know that I can cheat the effect with powders, but for some reason I always seem to head back to the creams.
Looking back, I should have really committed to the ‘glowing’ contrast. Ehhh… I’m working perfecting it:
Guerlain Parure Aqua
Chantecaille Aqua Blush in Daring
MAC Cream Color Base in Pearl (highlight)
Laura Mercier Cream Shadow in Rose Gold (lids)
NARS Eyeshadow in Galapagos (crease)
Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadow in #13 (lashline)
Armani Silk Eye Pencil in Brown (waterline)
Maybelline Falsies Mascara
YSL Rouge Pur Lustre in Bohemian Rose
I was so chilly this morning, and I was worried about the dry cold ‘drying’ my skin out. Boy, was I worried about nothing! This oily skin needs powder… period. Anyway, here’s how my ‘shiny’ face turned out:
Chanel Blanc Shimmering Base
Le Metier de Beaute Flawless Finish Foundation (11)
Chanel Blush in Rose Ecrin
Lumiere Sculptee de Chanel (highlight)
Dior 3 Colors Smoky (Smoky Khaki):
Base from lid to browbone
Smoke on lids
Couture on lids
YSL Shoking Liner (lashline)
By Terry Crayon Kohl Terrybly in Bronze Generation (waterline)
YSL Shocking Mascara
YSL Rouge Pur Shine in Bohemian Rose
*Now… I blame the flash for the too pale and ‘uneven’ tone of my base. I checked it numerous times and it was even in natural light. I don’t know… I might have used too much Blanc with the foundation (which is a bit too dark by itself). I’ll blend a bit more thoroughly in the future.*
YSL just released a new version of their Rouge Lipsticks (these are not it), that feature a distictly ‘golden’ hue. As I breathlessly anticipate their arrival at my local Nordstroms, I decided to keep busy with their current ‘Rouge Pur Shine’ line.
I love this line because the lipsticks are more like really pigmented glosses. They have an excellent slip, high shine, and each color is features a healthy dose of gold shimmer…
Two lippies came home with me: Red Strass, and Bohemian Rose:
It’s really hard NOT to find a flattering color in this line. I wanted them ALL, but these two are my definite favorites. There’s a shimmer free berry colored shine that might end up coming home with me eventually… we’ll see.
For now, I’m VERY happy with these two golden darlings!
