FOTD: Buff

I couldn’t wait to use the new Becca Mineral Blush, so I got right to the business of doing an FOTD:

Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation (#301)
Koh Gen Do Face Powder
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger
Becca Blush in Wile Honey
Anastasia Brow Gel in Granite
Burberry Eyehsadow in Gold Trench
Burberry Effortless Mascara
Lip Fusion Balm in Buff

Blushed: Becca Mineral Blush in Wild Honey

This is the most ‘natural-looking’ blush I’ve come across in a while. It’s nearly a bronzer on me, but not quite. It adds an overall ‘glow’ to my skin. The first time I wore it, I got so many compliments… people kept saying that I was glowing! 🙂 I’ll take it!

See? Really natural. It does wonders for my warm skin tone… although it’ll suit a wide range of skin tones as well. I highly recommend it for anyone who’s about my color and looking to glow without being obvious, or any fairer skinned  beauties looking for a lovely ‘natural’ flush.

You can find out more about Becca Blush in Wild Honey HERE.

Becca Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation (Amber)

I know that I just screamed from the rooftops all the fabulous things about Becca Luminous Skin Colour…
But the company recently released a new foundation (in a million shade ranges) that has more coverage, and a bit of a matte finish. I actually don’t know why it’s called ‘satin’ finish… this stuff’s totally matte on me.

I like it for coverage — and found that it’s best applied with fingers. I don’t think this foundation has a lick of SPF  in it (it’s not mentioned anywhere on the packaging, although titanium dioxide is listed in the ingredients)… so you’ll need to wear a sunscreen under it (which you should wear under foundation anyway). On the up side… no (or low) SPF means less likelihood of flashback.

I wore it a recent FOTD (with sunscreen under it) and it wore well for most of the day. I did start to get oily halfway through the day though.. so I had to blot.

April Favorites

Hey Guys,

Here’s what’s topping my list for the month of April.

Skinetica Anti-Blemish Treatment.

OMG this stuff WORKS! It’s the most gentle, non-intrusive, non-threatening blemish treatment I’ve ever used on this sensitive skin of mine… and it WORKS. It’s ridiculously easy to use… just put a little on a cotton ball and swipe over clean skin. Any acne that you have starts to dry up wihin 24 hours… my skin was ‘flat’ (no bumps) within 72  hours… and dark spots (I have hyperpigmentation) started lightening up by the end of the week. I MUST get more of this before I run out. They ship from the UK so I can’t be completely out by the time I order. I cannot recommend this stuff enough. Get into it!

Becca Luminous Skin Colour. (Nut)

This will be my Summer foundation… no doubt about it. It’s the sheerest coverage you can imagine… but when you put it on, it reflects light and makes you skin look flawless. It beats Senna’s Barely Base for three reasons: 1) It has an SPF of 25, 2) It is completely weightless, and 3) It comes in an insane range of skin colors with special attention to every conceivable undertone. I love it.

Armani Fluid Sheer (6).

This is my favorite of the new Armani Fluid Sheer colors. The coral-orange color just screams summer… and it’s shot through with just enough gold to give you a ‘glow.’ It’s easy to use… I tap it on bare skin or mix with a little foundation to hit the ‘blushing’ points of the face. Perfect for warmer undertones… but can be used from pale to dark skin…. with just a small adjustment in the amount used.

Burberry Eyeshadow (Gold Trench).

This is the perfect eyeshadow… to look like you’re not wearing any. I know, sounds like a waste. But it’s not. On pale skin tones, Gold Trench adds a natural ‘smoke’ that looks really effortless. On warm skin tones… it adds a glow. The color is incredibly neutral and flattering. Good Stuff

The Balm Tinted Lip Gloss (Ruby My Grapefruit).

I’ve been using this lip gloss for YEARS. I can’t tell you how many tubes I’ve gone through. I discovered it in the dusty back of a local beauty supply store (back before anyone had even really  heard of the brand), and fell in love. It stings like DuWop but not nearly as much… leaves your lips soothed and ‘puckered’ all at once. There’s just enough color to enhance your face… and it’s so easy to put on that you don’t even need a mirror. This is the only color I’ve ever liked. There are tons more to choose from, but Ruby My Grapefruit has always been my favorite.

That’s it! Those are my favorites for April. Ciao for now!

FOTD: Sheer Color

Since my skin is doing a bit better (the zit is gone! the zit is gone!), I went sheer for a quick FOTD:

Becca Luminous Foundation in Nut
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal
Armani Fluid Sheer in #6 (blush)
Ben Nye Banana Powder
Burberry Single Shadow in Gold Trench
Burberry Effortless Mascara
Burberry Lip Glow in Mallow Pink

FOTD: Becca Bare

Although it’s too dark, I dug in and tried out the Becca Tinted Moisturizer anyway. I just brought it down to my neck so that I didn’t look completely crazy. It works BEAUTIFULLY. I’m getting my proper shade next week.

Becca Tinted Moisturizer in Nuba
Illamasqua Blush in Expose (very light application)
RMS Cream Shadow in Solar
Perfekt Beauty Lash Enhancer
Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Troublant

Mini Becca Haul

I hit the website SkinCareRX because they were having a sale. My girlfriend has been on me about ordering from that site for months… so I finally caved. I caught 50% off on three products, and they shipped it to me within 2 days. Not too shabby.

I got the Tinted Moisturizer in Nuba, the Lip Tint in Grenadine, and a blender brush.
So, as you can see, the Tinted Moisturizer in Nuba is too dark. I have a bit of a tan, so I thought that I could pull it off, but it’s still too dark. The formula is awesome though, so I’m going to get my proper color (Sierra) and give this one to my little sister. I think it’ll match her skin tone perfectly.
Lip Tint in Grenadine. I really like this tint. It’s sheer and comfortable. You can actually wear this with just mascara and still look ‘polished.’ This is a keeper.
Okay, so this is not the blender brush that I ordered. I actually ordered a ‘tapered’ blender brush with a sable head. But this synthetic thing came in the mail. I called them about it and it turns out they never had the sable version, so they’ve sent me a return label, and this will be going back to the company. I’m not a fan of this brush at all.
But overall, I’m satisfied with my shopping experience. Their turnaround and customer service is EXCELLENT. So even though they made a mistake, they were quick to correct it. I will definitely be back for more.

FOTD: Soft Stroke

I wanted a ‘color wash’ with purple and brown, and I wanted several textures (which basically means mixing several different formulas for a singular effect).

Here’s what happened:

Guerlain Parure Aqua Foundation in Dore 25
Chanel Soho Story Blush/Highlighter
Becca Cream Shadow in Gilt (lid)
Sugarpill Chromalust Loose Shadow in Hysteric (perimeter)
Guerlain Powder Kohl in Noir (waterline)
Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara
Kaplan MD Lip Treatment in Sheer Blackberry
***”The Guerlain Foundation in Dore 25 is about half a shade too dark for me. But Dore 24 is about a quarter shade too light. When I’m in between shades, I always go with the darker shade, and blend it out around the neck and jawline. On warmer skin tones, I find it’s always more flattering to correct ‘down’ than to correct up. There’s nothing worse than the flash of a camera catching the color difference between your makeup and your skin. If you correct for the warmest shades in your face, you never run the risk of looking ashy, or not having your foundation match your neck and decolletage.”***

FOTD: I don’t even know what happened here…

…I started out with one idea, ended up doing something else, got confused along the way and well…
