Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream (MATTE BLACK)

I have finally gotten the MUFE Aqua Cream in Matte Black (#27). It’s been consistently sold out in my area. But by some stroke of dumb luck, there was one more left at Naimies. I didn’t even hesitate.

It is as awesome as I thought it would be. This formula is sooooooooooooo good. I’m in love! You can find out more about MUFE Aqua Creams HERE.

Make Up For Ever BLACK TANGO Palette

This turned out to be about as good as I expected it would. When I first heard about the Black Tango Palette, I wondered how MUFE would keep the Aqua Creams from drying out. Their solution: to put them in their own little pots, within a palette.

The creams are a black based burgundy, green and blue, and an ivory cream. What I was impressed by, is the fact that the shimmer is IN the cream. It’s distinct and subtle all at once. With the exception of the ivory, all of the creams behave and move like traditional MUFE Aqua Creams. I found the ivory formula a bit lacking. It skipped on the swatch, and didn’t hold up well without major blending.

That’s one swipe, using just my fingers. Even though the first three are black based colors, the intended shade comes through effortlessly. Overall, I like the palette. Just not a fan of the ivory color. We’ll see how practical those snap top containers are, for preserving the cream formula as time goes on. Eye Adore: MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Creams

I JUST got around to getting the latest three Aqua Creams. 23, 24 and 25 are Summer Brights. 26 is a ‘re-do’ of #19, which was pulled from the US Market after just a week in circulation. Lucky for me, I purchased during that week. So there is no need to get 26 this go around.

Swatches (one finger swipe)
I LOVE that the yellow is a smooth matte color. I already have some very specific ideas for all three of these. When the plans become reality, you know I’ll take a billion pictures and post them here. Ciao for now!

Orange Crush

I’m going nuts over all things Orange these days. It’s an extremely flattering color on my warm skin tone, and I love the color in general. It screams warm weather and good times to me. Here are some of the ‘orange’ things that have caught my eye of late…

Love these tweezers! I’m always thinking in terms of stocking my kit and I thought to myself: These would NEVER get lost because they’re so brightly colored! And it would help if I’m working with other artists… so that we don’t get our tools mixed up.

Same for these eyelash curlers. Adorable! I need another daily curler anyway (my Shu Uemura curler finally kicked the bucket)… so these give me the perfect excuse to pick up another one.

How adorable is this! The new Clarisonic ‘Mia 2’ now comes in the bright shade of Mango (or orange… as you like). I think that one of these would add a ‘summer’ touch to any skin care regimen.

You guys know I love a good orange lippie:

Rouge d’ Armani Sheer in Coral 300
It’s a ‘must have’ lippie for me this Summer!

This is not a new product, but Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Cream in #10 is still my favorite of them all. I love that you can use it ‘anywhere’ (even in the hair for colored streaks), and I love its staying power.

Okay… so let’s just call this ‘makeup’ for the feet. LOL I love these espadrilles. If you’re going to go with a summer theme, you can’t beat these.

Those are my ‘orange crush’ selections for the season! Ciao for now!

Here comes the… makeup artist

After making up everyone and their mother (literally), I dedicated about 15-20 minutes to doing something to my own face…

Quick, fast and in a hurry…
Shu Uemura Nobara Stick Foundation in #524
Guerlain Meteorites
Chanel Blush in In Love
Chanel Eyeshadow in Khaki Vert
Chanel Eyeshadow in Taupe Grise
Stila Smudge Pot in Black (lashline)
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Stash
Nouba Waterproof Mascara
Urban Decay 24/7 Lipliner in Heavy
Chanel Lipstick in Patchouli
Chanel Lipgloss in Pleasing

Here’s a quick pic of the bride… you can’t really see the detail in her makeup from my distance (I had to zoom in to catch that shot) and with my mediocre camera. We’ll just wait on the professionals for the real ‘beauty’ shots.
But I can tell you what I used:
Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation in Chestnut
Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix
Shu Uemura Translucent Face Powder
Chanel Blush in Plum Attraction
MAC Eyeshadows in Espresso & Carbon (brows)
Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream (royal blue)
Rock & Republic Eyeshadow in Denim
Sugarpill Eyeshadow in Dollipop
MAC Eyeshadow in Saddle
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Deviant
Naimies False Lashes
YSL Faux Cils Mascara in Radical Black
Chanel Lipstick in Patchouli
Chanel Lipgloss in Pleasing

Notice that the bride and I are doing the same thing with the lips. So did mom and baby sis of the bride. I used what was out and what worked on everyone! Both colors are stunning and very wearable on a wide range of skin tones. They’re part of the Chanel 2010 Holiday collection.

As a parting gift, I gave the mother of the bride the lipstick, and gave the bride the lip gloss. I often try to leave clients with parting gifts. It’s a habit that I picked up from seasoned (read: much more experienced) make up artists. It is always a good idea to leave your client with a smile, and a lovely (glossy) memory of your work.

**I have an appointment to get my brows done. I know, I know! And I even tweezed up right quick before the makeup… but I was outta time so they got brushed through. They’ll be cleaner by the weekend. Promise!**

As promised, here are the swatches of the MUFE Aqua Creams that I scored at THE MAKEUP SHOW.

15 (Shimmery Taupe)
10 (Orange shot through with a gold)
1 (Dark Metallic Grey)
20 (Royal Blue)
22 (Intense Green)

18 (Shimmery Lilac)
19 (Royal Purple)
3 (Silver)
14 (Warm Golden Brown)

And my crown jewel: 8 (Red)
Note that all of these swatches are ONE SWIPE PER COLOR. These creams are beyond fabulous. You can sheer them down, or build them up. They set almost immediately, but can be moved with a little bit of lotion or cream. I use them with my fingers. I used a brush ONCE to get under the lash line. I imagine you can also use them as an eyeliner if you’re fast enough. Really, there’s no end to their versatility. I remain impressed with these.
