I got up bright and early for The Makeup Show this morning… and wanted to put my best face forward. I wanted to go for an orange ‘glow’ (you know orange is my color) without the shine. I blended a highlighter in my foundation, which caused a bit of flashback in the camera, but it looked natural outside in the sun, and under artificial lights in the show.
It’s a lot less dramatic than the Byzance FOTD, but still dramatic nonetheless. I wanted to dive into my Rock and Republic eyeshadows. For this one, I used the eyeshadow in Scene:
I attended the Keynote Lesson from Celebrity Makeup Artist Valente Frazier. He is Iman and Tyra Banks’ makeup artist… and is recognized for his professionalism, drama-free attitude, grace and humility.
Before he came on stage, there was a wonderful vignette with Iman and others talking about why they choose to work with Valente Frazier on a regular basis. And what came through again and again was his professionalism, his grace, and his drama-free attitude.
I met him after the show, and commended him on his consummate professionalism. He held my hand the entire time, and told me that we are nothing without humility, and none of us is EVER so big that we can be rude to another person. I took that home with me.
But onto the lesson! I have no words…so I’ll just let the pictures do the talking. Valente shared his secrets to getting the perfect flawless Red Carpet look:
A walk through Neiman Marcus recently netted the most adorable discovery: a makeup and skin care line by a company simply called 29.
It’s quite the quaint little line. Apparently, this line belongs to the wife of a winemaker. 29 stands for the highway that runs through Napa valley, where the family vineyard is located. All of the products are infused with grapseed oil, which comes from the grapes on the vineyard. Lovely story. I was curious about whether the products were as lovely as the story.
So I stepped out on faith and tested (and bought) the foundation.
This is the darkest shade they offer. There are about eight foundations, and they go from a light ivory, to simply ‘dark.’
Note the pump. I was instantly put in a good mood at the sight of that pump. And I was put in an even better mood when I swatched this foundation.
It goes on smooth, and sets to a soft matte finish. I’d swatched it initially at the store and wore it while I shopped around. It set in about 2 minutes, and it left such a beautiful finish that I immediately went back to purchase it.
This foundation is cheaper than my previously purchased Hourglass Foundation … retailing for $54. And technically it’s the same size (1oz) although it looks like you get about 1/2 an ounce more of the 29 foundation. I think that it was measured by volume, not weight. There’s a lot of product in this bottle.
We’ll see how this performs in practical application. So far… so good. This company is now on my radar. Here’s hoping it stays there.
I shored up my Sheer Bronzer collection from Armani. Special thanks to Emma in the Las Vegas Boutique for her quick service and fabulous extras… love her!
Here are the first two lip swatche for the Haughty Cosmetics line. I’m having a bit of trouble with my camera (I honestly think it’s time for a new one), but I finally managed to take a couple of blog worthy pictures:
ummimouse29, I’ve sent an email to you… and you have 48 hours to respond with your mailing address. If I don’t hear from you within that time frame, I will have to pick another winner. Congratulations again!
