Laura Mercier: Autumn 2011

Here is the concept:

Here are the products:

And here is what came home with me:

Lip Gloss in Plum Noir     Lipstick in Bing Cherry
I tried to swatch the Plum Noir gloss on my lips, and it would NOT cooperate. I couldn’t seem to take a good picture. But here’s an idea of how ‘dense’ this color is:
Nice, right? I really like it. It’s a little thick formula-wise, but it’s forgiven because of this divine color payoff.
The lipstick was a lot more cooperative when it came to swatches:

It’s a rich brownish red, that really photographs bright. It’s not that bright in person. But it’s truly lovely, and perfect for the coming season.

FOTD: Shimmer Paint

As I’ve stated before, my life has been pretty topsy turvy lately. So I finally put on more than a sheer makeup to move around in today. I used ‘painting products’ for just about everything:

Guerlain Parure Aqua (Dore 24)
YSL Cream Blush in Praline
Armani Silk Eyeshadow in #7 ( crease to brow)
MUFE Aqua Cream in #14 (lid)
Armani Silk Eyeshadow in #13 (outer corner)
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero (waterline)
Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara
MAC Lip Pencil in Hodgepodge
Dior Addict Lipstick in Smoky

Lip Service: Dior Addict Lipstick

While I wait with bated breath for the Coco Rouge Shine Lippies… I’ve had to make do with the Dior version. They’re not half bad. They’re more pigmented than the Chanel versions, but not as moisturizing. And there are SO many colors! It’s easy to get overwhelmed. I finally ended up with one color (miracles happen), called ‘Smoky.’

The flash REALLY blew this color out. It’s more of a smoky-brown-rose, if that makes sense. It’s about 2 shades darker than what you see there. I tried to take it natural light, but lost the color of it. So flash is what ya get.

I like it a lot. I don’t care for many of the colors because they’re a bit ‘frosty’ for my tastes, and many of them are unflattering for my skin tone. But ‘smoky’ is a keeper.
