Professional Grade: CV Nation Bonus Scene

We’re shooting the bonus supplemental for the CV Nation webseries… and I find out there’s a new character. That means new makeup. I learned about the character 3 days ago, and literally thought up the full makeup (which isn’t fully realized even now) this morning in the shower. Sometimes you have to move fast.

This look, while fairly simple, still required a steady hand and a general sense of symmetry. I used surgical tape (using the eyebrows as a guide) to get the lines straight. The makeup is MAC Acrylic Paint (which is a staple for this show), and the silver is MAC Pigment with a bit of FACE Altlier Transforming Gel. General foundation is from the DMK Ebony Series palette.

As you can see, I was moving pretty fast and the back of the makeup isn’t fully realized. For this bonus scene it doesn’t really have to be (it will evolve as the character evolves), so the director forgave me… for now.
The bonus scene will go up ‘before’ the series finale, so they’re shooting pretty quickly. Perhaps by the end of this shoot, I’ll have realized the makeup a bit more fully.
Here’s hoping.

Scene & Heard: MAC Paint By Numbers

I spent the evening at the MAC Pro Store in Beverly Hills for a ‘Paint By Numbers’ Event. I thought there would be more painting and less… selling. But hey, MAC is a business after all, and it’s not like they’re lacking for fans. The place was PACKED.

The Glamour Daze Collection was out… and partially sold out. The center blush (Small Vanity) is divine. I can understand why it sold out so quickly.
That’s it! I had a good time. I ended up with one blush and one eyeshadow from the Glamour Daze Collection.

It’s been few days since I posted… I haven’t been my best.

In the midst of my whirlwind project (which has now been postponed until after Thanksgiving), I forgot some key things about myself. The most important (for now) is that I’m allergic to silicone. I discovered this lovely fact while putting on a pair of silicone hybrid contact lenses. My eyes swelled shut within 24 hours. That was 4 years ago.

Flash forward to last week, when I was eyebrow deep in MAC Acrylic Paints. They’re silicone based. And while I didn’t use the paints on myself, I used a silicone based cleanser to clean all my brushes (just in case any of the paint got stuck in them. Then I used those brushes on my face.

It did not end well.

I’m currently covered in hives (NOT A GOOD LOOK!), but the good news is… they’re getting better. Ugh. First the oxygen madness… now this! This is a lesson to me to THINK before I get slap happy with makeup and what not.

I’ve been using By Terry foundations in the meantime, because they double as skin care (and cover up all these unsightly marks). I took a few pictures… I’ll put ’em up tonight.
