FOTD: Magenta Lips

Okay, so I just need you guys to bear with me through this ‘no eye makeup’ thing that I have to go through post surgery. The rules for caring for these new eyes is what prompted me to go ‘lipstick shopping’ with Ben Nye. For my first real go… I used the ‘magenta’ color.

NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (Malaga)

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Ginger)

YSL Radiant Blush in #1

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brow in #25

MAC Eyeshadow in Brun

Ben Nye Lipstick in Magenta

*Gah, my eyes are still wonky. That redness/discoloration is supposed to hang around for a few weeks. I guess  I can’t complain… it’s only been a few days. I just found out that I might be able to wear eye makeup after another week or so (I go in for another post-op and could get the all clear). Here’s hoping!

    1. Thank you! Yep… no eye makeup. It was difficult for me at first (I’ve almost always played up my eyes), but I’m getting used to it. Plus, it’s temporary… so I can be good until I’m out of the danger zone! 🙂

  1. Shahada! Glad to hear that you’re on the mend! My sister had great results with eye surgery but I can’t even contemplate it. I have thing about eyes. Lol.

Which high end foundation would you recommend d for oily-combination skin? I’ve fallen in love with a sample of Chanel perfection lumiere in 104. Unfortunately, that shade is now only available from the Chanel website. I’m unsure if Chanel has sales to make that $57 more palpable. But I wonder if there is alternative foundation that I could pick up from Sephora or even Nordstrom. TIA!

  2. Hi Meka! I LOVE my results. I can see so far… it’s so awesome. Hmmm… I love Guerlain Lingerie de Peau but it’s a beast to find my shade (Dore 24). I had luck on Modnique (plus it was on sale). It’s actually better than Perfection Lumiere in my opinion. I LOVE Armani Maestro, but again with the shading. I’m #10 with is a bit to dark… but there’s no #9 (at least not the last time I checked). If you can match your skin tone, that formulation is absolutely amazing. You can get Maestro through Nordstrom, and Lingerie de Peau at Bloomingdales or through

    1. Thanks Shahada! I’m going to stick with these glasses though. Lol. My eyes tear up when someone else’s eyes are red or teary.

Thanks for the recs. I think linger de peau doesn’t have a shade match for me. I’m a little darker than you (I wear the KGD maifanishi foundation in 302). But I’ll definitely check out the Armani foundation.

      1. If you wear KGD 302, then you can wear Guerlain Lingerie de Peau in Dore 25. It’s a full shade darker than 24. I can wear KGD 301 if I correct it ‘up’ a bit. Dore 25 should work just fine for you. 🙂

  3. I love the magenta shade on you! I never would’ve looked twice at Ben Nye lipsticks, but now I feel a haul coming on, lol!

@Meka I have to 2nd the rec for Lingerie de Peau. I was a long time fan of Perfection Lumiere, I thought the coverage/formula/finish was literally perfection…until I tried Lingerie de Peau! Its everything I loved about the Chanel x100!

  4. I’m way late. I actually had to google to find this post again because I wanted to pick up one of the foundations that you recommended. Since Reese co-signed the recommendation, I’m hunting down lingerie de peau! Thanks for the recommendation ladies!
