FOTD: Anniversary

Eight years ago, I did this…

…although honestly it feels like yesterday. So I woke up bright and early in the morning, looked at my husband (who will always be my boyfriend) and proclaimed my love! Then I put on some makeup:

Givenchy Teint Couture Foundation (Amber)

Bobbi Brown Pressed Powder (Golden Orange)

Becca Blush (Wild Honey)

Bobbi Brown Rich Chocolate Palette:

Bone (browbone)

Frappe (crease)

Rich Chocolate (lid/under waterline)

Cargo Eye Kohl (tightline/waterline)

Volume de Chanel Mascara

Chantecaille Hydra Chic Lipstick in Tiger Lilly (as a stain)

We ran around, did some errands, did couple more things that everyone else might find mundane but in which we take absolute delight… then we got ready for dinner at our favorite restaurant (Vibrato Grill & Jazz). There’s always a live act, and we never check to see who was playing. Didn’t matter. We go for the experience… because it’s always a good one.

True to form, I put on some more makeup:

Guerlain Parure Gold (06)

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (NC42)

Armani Bronzer Summer 2013 (as blush)

Saucebox Creme de la Creme Palette:

Shimmer Champagne on lids

Shimmer Taupe on outer crease

MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack (lashline)

Guerlain Retractable Pencil in Gold (on waterline)

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Chantecaille Hydra Chic Lipstick in Tiger Lily

Shiseido Lacquer in Gold (center of lips)

Then a funny thing happened, that sums up my union in three perfect pictures:

Whenever he feels that I am too serious (I can get very serious sometimes), he says or does something to lighten up my spirit. This has been the case since the day I met him… to the day I said I do… to today. His goal is to make me smile, by any means necessary. I will never take this priceless quality for granted.

We headed out to Vibrato … and were greeted with flowers and a card to celebrate our night. We got our (almost) favorite table, and to our delight found out that one of my FAVORITE BANDS OF ALL TIME was playing!

Okay, sort of. It was ‘Gypsy All Stars’ — doing Gipsy Kings. There were some originals, and some replacements, but the sound was ON.POINT.

It was EPIC. I knew every single song. We clapped and sang and suddenly I was a 20-something young producer again spinning spinning spinning in my too-expensive apartment after landing my first big producing job at ABC. No one could stay in their seats. One person got up… then two… then EVERYONE got up and was spinning and singing and dancing with total strangers. It was PERFECT.

I wept. I did. It was a true celebration of life. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience. At first, hubby was a little concerned (tears kept coming), but then he realized that I was so happy… so he wept. He won’t admit that though. He’ll tell you he got something in his eye. πŸ˜‰ Mmm Hmm.

They played for HOURS, and we stayed till the end. Then we braved a chilly Southern California night… went for a little drive… and eventually headed home.

Lucky are those who recognize the miracles in their lives as they unfold.

*These same Thai Lily’s were prominently featured in my wedding bouquet, and on my wedding cake. There is no way that anyone at Vibrato could have known this. Like I said… perfect.*

  1. Such a sweet story, Shahada. And you really lucked out with the Gypsy Kings although it would have been special no matter who was playing. Congratulations to both of you.
