Product Review: Chanel Eclat Lumiere

I see someone at Chanel is paying attention.

The Eclat Lumiere Highlighting Pen is the result of a great idea… perfected.

First there was YSL Touche Eclat… decent highlighting, but iffy on the coverage. Then there was By Terry Touche Veloutee… fabulous on the highlighting and the coverage, but lacking in the color selection. Chanel seems to have combined the two… adding ‘warmer’ and more yellow-based colors and keeping that same great highlighting from Touche Eclat, and coverage from Touche Veloutee. One swipe of the pen, and I was in love.

About 50 clicks after I took this picture, the first wave of medium yellow golden goodness came to the tip. It takes just a little bit to get the job done.

See how warm that is? Much warmer than my Touche Veloutee (Cream is the color that I use).

It blends out effortlessly, while adding ‘light’ to any areas you apply it. There is NO shimmer.. this is a base product. You can use it to naturally highlight parts of your face in much of the same manner as you’d use a concealer.

Now, the bad  news is that this is the darkest color. The color range is not as good as YSL, but loads better than By Terry. If you hover between Fair to Medium … you can use this pen. Any darker than, say, MAC45 and you may run into a problem.

So far, so good. I love it. If they add more shades, I’ll love it even more. You can find out more about Chanel’s Eclat Lumiere Pen HERE.

  1. You're welcome! I am really happy with it. I LOVE By Terry's Touche Veloutee, but the Chanel version is much warmer and works with skin tone without giving me an extreme highlighting result. This is going to be a staple in my makeup arsenal. I can already tell.
